Since I've been growing my hair I've been more aware of its feel and texture, and of the obvious variety of hair on other people: straight, wavy, curly, fine, coarse, etc. I often see other long-haired people (male and female) and wonder what *their* hair feels like. However, unless it were someone I know... really well, in fact... I'd be very reluctant to ask someone if I could touch their hair - because I suspect most people would be very taken aback by such a request from a stranger.
I don't think I'd mind, myself, though. In fact, years ago, when I had a buzz cut (younger and foolisher, y'know), a young woman in a club asked me if she could feel my head, and I said, "Okay, sure."
So I'm just curious... anyone else see a nice head of hair and think, "Wow, I'd like to feel that!" Ever actually done it?
And has anyone (particularly a stranger) asked to touch your hair? Did you let them?
Yes to both, I have had women ask to touch my hair, a couple of times they have just reached up to touch it, scaring me at first but it worked out fine. I have asked women if I could touch their hair, usually after talking to them and gauging their what their reaction would be. I have nver been turned down yet. I think most men and women who work hard on their hair, enjoy having it noticed and, personally speaking, having it touched. I also enjoy the scent of beautiful clean hair.
Not my hair (it's pretty ordinary looking, except for being long), but years ago when I was a young sailor on liberty in Tokyo, I was repeatedly asked by total strangers if they could touch my beard. Probably 90 percent of those asking were men, but a few women, if they felt safe (waitresses, transit conductors), asked, too. I always try to be a congenial guest in whatever foreign country I visit, so I'd alway smile and say, sure. They were invariably surprised that it was soft rather than wiry, and the women always giggled like they were possessed. Lots of fun.

Just yesterday morning I walked up to the top of Twin Peaks for exercise, as I often do. There are often Japanese tourists up there, and two wanted to be photographed with me! This has happened several times with Asians - they are particularly fascinated by hair. But others have asked to photograph me, too. Hey, one thing tourists come to San Francisco to see is "hippies", so I'm a "find".
More often than not, they want to be in the photograph with me, and I take that as a good sign - that they like what they see.
Like you, I always say "yes". Nevertheless, each time it happens, I feel like a buffalo in Yellowstone National Park. :-)
After all these decades, I still associate the long hair on guys with the hippy heads! Hippies used to wear head-bands, or is it bandannas?
Yes, I do like to touch the hippy hair!
I always want to touch a head full of well nutured and thickly developed dreadlocks. There's something very kinky, abut the rough nappy texture and the writhing coils that turns me on. Let's just say asking to touch someones locs is not cool, unless you're intimately acquainted.
