I like the look, my only suggestion would be maybe doing it in thicker sections, giving a look closer to dreads? Just a thought, but still looks great as it is.
The pic shows some loose hairs on top, were those missed or are they shorter, younger hairs that wouldn't stay?
Younger Hairs i am gonna keep this look for 3 weeks see where it gets me.
How about posting a picture of your hair before putting in the braids?

I thought the braids were cool until I scrolled down to see the 'before' pic. Your face is very well suited for your long thick hair. In my opinion, you look better without the braids unless you just put them in for a short time just to get some waves into your hair after you unbraid it.

Terrific image change! Like your hair either way...loose or braided...you have a face shape that is complimented by both "styles". Wishing you continued success with your experimentation!
