Ive never had really short hair, and as of the past year i have wanted it long.. i have been experimenting, and the last time i got it trimmed was because it was simply too curly and straightening it made it bad.. it wasnt even that long either
but i am thinking about it, and honestly i dont know how to exactly grow it long.. right now the hair on the top of my head is long, and on the sides and back back it is shorter.. but in the back, the hair at the bottom is short and annoying and gets long, but isnt cool.. and the hair from the top of my head that goes towards the back isnt really long yet, which im fine with
but should i frequently get the hair thats not from the top of my head on the sides and back cut??
did anyone even understand that at all!? haha
Hi Whiplass
If you want to grow your hair long, then the more hair you have to start with the better... (particularly if the hair is on top). In many ways growing hair is just a matter of time, time=length, length=time. Every inch of hair you have is a two month head start towards long hair.
"How exactly you should grow it long" is really a matter of opinion. In the simplest sense the best way to grow your hair long is not to cut it. Just ignore it for 12 months and let it grow.
Obviously this can be really frustrating as it normally means 12 months of really awkward unruley hair. So trimming the back and sides is certainly an option, as it allows you to keep some shape & style to your hair whilst you grow it out. I did this myself.
The thing is that sooner or later, if you really want long hair, you have to let those annoying hairs at the back and sides grow out. So you have to endure them at some point. We all have to suffer the awkward stages.
Honestly, there's no real "right way" to grow your hair out, the best thing you can do for now is leave your hair alone for 3-6 months (or as long as you can,) hang around the board, pick-up tips and advise along the way and when your really struggling with your hair, (which we all do) post with a picture and you'll get some excellent feedback from people who can help.
Hope to see you around
