This is kind of another reply to the favorite Bands/Musicians reply. Thought I'd share and ask if anyone has heard of them.
Robert Mirabal- He does a mixture of Accoustic Rock and Traditional Tribal. He is another Longhair he has straight
beautiful long black hair and his voice and lyrics are lovely.
His band is The Rare Tribal Mob, and everyone of them are also American Indians, all of them I seen have long hair, most dark brown hair. Robert Mirabal kinda puts this post back on topic lol. He is quite the poet, and he has a since of humor at times when not on the spot singing, which is very appealing.
Ceshia Anaquod- Everything about her is Beautiful. I truly admire her and I hope she takes her talent as far as she can. Though I don't understand her lyrics since it is not my Tribe's language, just listening to her voice I enjoy. She has a few lyrics in english though not many (another language as you can see I understand lol) She is truly a Beautiful woman all around, and a very kind spirit. If you guys haven't heard of her, I will try to put some of her songs online if you are interested in listening. Trust me, her voice is beautiful and so is the music behind it.
Well, those are my two very very favorites.
I don't have favorite singers, but I highly recommend two recent cds of Native American music.....Brotherhood by Black Lodge Singers and Sanctuary by R. Carlos Nakai. Canyon RECORDS and Soar are two labels that produce many Native American recordings. You might want to check out their websites for their catalogs. Although I try not to label music, there is another excellent cd that has more of a new age feel to it; Peter Kater's Red Moon showcases predominantly Native American musicians.
