I was watching that show Brat Camp and there was a segment where they cut off a girls dreadlocks because she had lice and they claimed that they couldn't get a comb through her hair (they didn't try mind you). Just wondering if that's true, or whether you can get lice out of dreadlocks without cutting them off?
It's a given that you can't comb through them, without ruining them.
You could perhaps use some sort of alcohol to kill the lice, and then it ought to be possible to remove them.
A guy I talked to once did it when he had lice, and it seemed to work.
They were itching (ha get it?) to get rid of her dreadlocks anyway. That said they are not against long hair, alot of the camp counsillors have longish hair, one of them even has pig tails down to almost his waist.
well.... you can't comb them at all (if they are dreadlocks), it's not a matter of ruining them.
And how would you remove the lice once it's dead?
you've got to stay away from lice. the tea tree oil actually keeps bugs away beside being excellent for your scalp, so it's a 2 in 1!

That's what I mean, you'd have to ruin them to be able to comb through them.
No idea, he didn't say. He just said it'd worked for him. I suppose if the lice is on the outside of the dread you could remove it somehow, I just don't know how. If it's inside of it, does it *really* matter? :)
Nice, back when I had the locks I used a tea-tree shampoo anyway.
