I know these days, it is only '"appropriate" In everyday society to have short hair. Longhairs have to take all the crap about "Hey cut your hair" Woudn't it be funny if the day we live in now it was only "appropriate" to wear our hair long? Since most of us longhairs rebel against the everyday lifestyle, do you think we would have short hair? It is mostly because I have longhair for is because I am not like the average man, and pretty much don't wanna look like him either. I was thinking it would be like a reverse history. Imagine what shorhaired men's hair remarks would be in a world like that. "Hey, you should grow your hair you hippy" (Stating that "Hippy" in a reverse world would wear their hair short, lol.) Wouldn't that be a funny thing to look on, but if we did live in a reverse world like that, It woudn't be funny, just normal in our minds. I wonder if then, more women would wear their hair short. Since decently long is normal for a woman in the world we live in. All of it I say is really cool. I think in a world like that, this messageboard would be called The Men's Short Hair Hyperboard, lol. I guess in a world like that, it would be the Business men with the awesome Long Hair, and The Heavy-Metal Image, and We had the Business Suits and The Boring (But in a world like that, Interesting) Short Hair. Well, I will hopefuly get some rather interesting replies, and remember this is not the reverse world I described and please for the love of god keep it/grow it long.
We'd all end up being fans of short hair instead and still wouldn't be any better off. You can't beat long hair no matter what anyone says. Not only does it look cool it's just so much more versatile!
Happy hairgrowing!
That would be a really STRANGE world, indeed!!!
Sort of like an "Alice Through The Looking Glass" type world.
I think everything you mentioned in quite interesting--as
dream-like, thought-provoking ideas. But in reality things
would never really work out that way.
Long hair is a special category all it's own--at least for men, anyway.
The way it looks and feels...not to mention all the extra attention it requires. And when you 'forget' about your
long hair, it has ways of reminding you that it's there:
Fot instance, today I was trimming some branches, and my hair
got caught up in the branches...
or, should I say, the branches got stuck in my hair. And
when I tried to move--ouch!--I was stuck there.
LONG HAIR is a SPIRITUAL thing to me: It's a reminder of the
connections we have to our Creator.
Thanks for your entertaining fantasy!
and Good Luck on your Journey!
There must be some parts of India where Sikhs are a majority. It might be like that.
Of course, that's kind of a smart-alleky answer. The real heart of the matter is whether or not long hair is, in and of itself, better. The question is whether you are a longhair or a rebel.
I've found rebellion to be unsatisfying. The rebel is nothing without something against which to rebel. Thus, the rebel is nothing more than an extension of that which he/she regards as evil. That's why rebellion is unsatisfying. That's why I bristle at the suggestion that I'm a "rebel". Of course, you're take on the matter may be altogether different and if it is, I respect that.
FWIW, I think longhair is better because I just like the look of it better and I'm not always worried about who is going to botch my 'do and whether or not it's combed the right way. OTOH, it's a bit more maintenance in some ways, gets in food sometimes, sheds around the house, etc. So, it's not overwhelmingly better, like say... the difference between sticking your hand in a fire and not.
If the prevailing social order became longhaired, I think I'd just continue to be who I am. Too bad we probably won't see that happen in my lifetime.
