No I have not cut it, but I will be using gel for a while until my hair gets a lot longer for ponytail length.
lol, well keep alot of gel with you, but you know when it is out of your head, back to weird looking hair ;). Keep growing your hair, and well hope the gel works good for you
I'm right there with you dude, started using full gel when I go to work. I can deal with the awkward phase most other places though. I don't think the gelled and slicked look is too bad, as long as I remember not to touch my hair with it in, that crap feels awfull, but it's well worth it to keep hair growing.
you might try hair wax I used it when I had a ceasar cut its not as annoying as gel and some of the newer types actually come out with one wash.
Don't only people with African type hair use Hair Wax. Excuse me for my ignorance but the only people I have seen using wax are those that want dreads.
Not necessarily. I used wax all the time in the earlier stages of growth when my hair was completely unmanageable. It helped weigh it down but without having that stiff 'gelled' look.
Its not the type of wax used for dreads. This comes in a circular stick form that kinda rolls up like deodorant and you just rub it on your hair and it makes it stick up or whatever.
Don't know if it's different for the US, but here everyone and his mother uses wax if they have short hair.
I used to use Shockwaves strong wax when I had a ceaser cut, it did a pretty good job, but I don't even touch my hair with that now.
A few days ago, for the first time since my last haircut I gelled my hair because I wanted to look more professional for my music exam that followed in two days, I was afraid that the examiner may have thought I looked scruffy, against long hair ect. My hair needed a wash anyway, so I bought Garnier Fructis smooth (can't remember the name). After slicking it back, I ended up with a very bad mullet look!!! My back of my hair was past my shoulders at the back, on my shirt, it looked horrible. So I used ACV rinse, shampoo and conditioner to get it out. I figured my hair is just too long for that look now :)
I'm not giving up on the awkward stage, I'm not going to resort to wax, gel, or any kind, I remember what gel did to my hair last time when I had it short: made my hair extreamly dry, and left lots of wax and gel residue in my hair. Kenneth, just ride it out, try not to give in to those products, your hair will feel and look much better in the end if you forget about these products for awhile!
That was the only option I had left too. My awkward stage hair was just awful sometimes but I was determined to get through it.
