I want to see Farenheit 9/11 just to see what it's about and then I want to go see White Chicks. If Funding provides I'd also be tempted to see Dodgeball or Anchorman. Must make up my mind on that bit. Will Farell or Ben Stiller....
I'd like to see Farenheit 9/11 too, and Around the world in 80 days.
Spider-man 2: yes
Dodgeball: yes
Farenheit 9/11: HELL NO!
Anchorman: yes
Around the World in 80 Days: maybe
I'd like to add my vote to Farenheit 9/11.
I can tell you what its about - its about George Bush's close ties to the Bin Laden's and despotic Saudi Princes. Its about the way the Bush Administration sought to coerce the Intelligence agencies into "finding" a link between Saddam Hussien and Al Quaida to help justify the Invasion of Iraq.
Its about everything America has done wrong with Foreign Policy since 9/11.
However, its been categorised as a Documentary, and most people expect documentaries to be balanced (a trend that has emerged since Journalists rather than Activists started making documentaries.) Do not expect to see a balanced view point - Michael Moore (the director) hates the Bush Administration more than I do, but you can expect the film to factually accurate and incredibly funny, Moore is a born comedian. I appreciate that for many American's particularly the conservative-right, its very difficult to accept someone telling you what's wrong with your government and its international policies. But if someone's gonna do it, then you might as well have a laugh about it at the same time.
Other films:
Harry Potter & the prisoner of Alzer-whatever... (I know I know, but they are such fun films...)
Cold Mountain - still haven't seen it, wanted to see why the film that was nominated for so many awards didn't get any!

Just a footnote - Tony Blair and the British Government come in for a slating too. After On International Afairs our man Tony does whatever his mate Dubya does, its like a game of simon says.
Domestically though Tony Blair has been a pretty good PM pity America can't say the same for George W Bush.
frightening post scr ipt to your point- there are enough people here who hold the baffling belief that dub-ya is doing a sparkling job there is a chillingly real possibility that king george's reign of (t)error might be extended 4 more years.
Well I'm optimistic that Kerry & Edwards can swing the Vote, Dubya & Cheney have a really rough time of it lately and people are starting to wake up to the fact, that US economy is shot, there are no jobs, and that George W Bush only cares about Corporate America.
Granted the elections are 5 months away and they say 5 days is a long time in politics so anything could happen. The best thing you can do if you want to oust Bush is encourage people to Vote!
Less than 25% of the population voted for him last time, and Al Gore suffered badly from poor turnout. Most American's are not Neo-Conservatives, so if you get the public out to vote, then you'll NOT get Bush back for another term.

I will encourage people to vote against Bush. I will encourage people to vote against Kerry. Kerry is a coward and yellow belly. His one purple heart was earned because he got a SCRATCH from an accident, not in battle, and he begged for his second purple heart. And then he goes and denounces the war he got those two hearts in. I hate Kerry as a person and thus would not like him to be president. Plus he has an eerie resemblance to Old Hickory (see pic). Bush, obviously, is not fit for the job. So who's left? I hear tell rumor of Gore running on an independant, if he does then he must win, he's a good man for the job. If he isnt' then Nader all the way!
Nader? The former Green now indepedent? Wow, Marc I'm shocked. By your standards this guys is practically a communist!
I'll tell it to you plain. Nader, Kerry, Bush...unless we get Gore then we're damned either way.
You could well be correct, but atleast the Rest of the World stands a chance with Nader, Kerry or Gore (if he's running) we're only Damned with Bush!
Incidentally, I can't see Nader been very popular with the hispanics, say his name outloud and to a Spanish Speaker it translates as "Nothing" Lol - what a way to loose votes - "I'm voting for Nothing!"
ROFLMAO
From what I remember in the last elections in America, Al gore sounded a better president than George Bush, although I can't remember why, I was only 13 or 12 at the time I think and didn't really care much about politics.
Florida was the key to it all. Whoever got Florida won the popular vote. Florida went to Gore! First reported by CNN. Then other networks followed in suit agreeing that Gore won Florida untill Fox News declared that Bush had won Florida. Hmm. What makes that more compelling is that the man in charge of the decision desk at Fox, the man to make the call, was first cousin to George Bush. Well if Fox says it's Bush then it must be and then many networks changed their views &c. and it went into the large debate. Well things didn't help Gore much there when Bush's brother is the governor of Florida and a woman who used to work for Dubya or something like that is the lady in charge of counting the votes. So Gore won but he was screwed by Bush and his henchmen.
Yea, I remember it was a showdown to do with Palm beach county in Florida. I don't think it should be allowed, for family of the president to work or be governors, it's so unfair. I hope Bush gets his arse kicked next election, 5 months away?
Election is in November and I do hope Bush gets his patooty kicked by (God I hope so) Gore (Please God!). But he will still be president untill March. Come March he'll either step down or be sworn in again. Yeah. I need to be the ruler of America. My first step would be to make it so that Great Britain, Germany and the USA own the world. Communists would be in exile. Fun fun!
1. Al Gore has, on several occasions, stated that he is not running.
2. Presidents are sworn in duing the month of January, not March.
3. Why Germany as a third chose? You like Germany just a bit too much I think.
4. Why is communism such a horrible thing? It's 100 times better than capitalism.
1) Yet I did see some footage in a commercial for news with Gore saying he'd run for 2004. I don't know, just what I saw.
2)I got confused, sorry, January, yes.
3)I like Germany alot, yes, because I am infact 75% German and am very proud of the history of the Germanic people and I find them to be the best people on Earth. I don't mean to put every other form of people down, I'm just saying German people are better.
4)How dare you say that? Communism is a horrid thing and each time it's been tried it's been proven to be a failure and it's easily run by a despicable dictator, a bad apple. Capitalism is a good thing, it provides for people to compete and give themselves a life goal.
Hating communism is a reactionary tactic imbedded in the minds of Americans by the Geroge Bush's of yesterday. Yes, the few times that Communism has been in practice in large scale, it has become corrupt. So what? So has capitalism. Look at the Navajo for example. Or any other indigineous tribe around. They all practice a primitive form of communism. They are all happy people and have no bad apples.
Capitalism is the reason why fossil fuels are dwindling away, why rainforests are cut down, why animals are lined up and slaughtered, why the earth's not going to last many more centuries of human abuse. All people car about is money. Ever has been since agriculture was developed.
Agreed, just like the prejudice against longhairs that has been instilled in soceity since the 60's. The fact remains people need to think in terms of Good and Bad, so polarised governments and social groups tend to label the other as BAD rather than accepting their differences and trying to get along. Its easier to win favour amongst your peers or voters if you define us as good and them as bad, it childly simplistic but its kept the world behind their governments for the whole of the 20th Century.
America is held up as a shinning example of how captilism works, you can do the classic Edwards rise from the gutter and live the American Dream, but what everyone forgets is this is really just a dream, few people do it, most people spend their lives slaving away for someone far richer than themselves with no real opportunity to advance themselves. Why because the rich people like to kick hell out of the middle classes and they sure as hell don't want them joining their club. The rich men want to retain their infulence in politics, the rich people want to keep skimming investments from the middle classes, they was to keep accidentally fouling up some pension fund.
Capitalism works very nicely if you cap it at the SMB level, after that the bad apples that emerge develop so much power at the corporate level that the system becomes just as corupt as any other political philosophy.
The World wants you to see things in black & white, the problem is there are a lot of colours in between, if you look at the colours and admire each one for what it is, then you remove prejudice and everyone gets on much happier. Imagine how good that would be if it were applied to long hair.
I really don't see how the Navajo can all be happy with a basic form of Communism due to the fact that Communism destroys the individual and makes the community more important. That's a horrible idea, to lose one's self. I mean it's very important to be one's self and that's what long hair says, is being an individual. With Communism the interest of the community or of the "Uncle Joe" of the time might be short hair and since you are no longer important you have to cut your hair. How's that for Communism? With Capitalism every man does what he does and if a man has long hair ok then. Capitalism is the only way for people to live happy. Live for yourself, work for others, watch TV.
The loss of "sense of community" is what has made inner city crime such a problem, if no-one respects the greater good, everyone become in it for themselves. Thats creates a horrible vision of selfishness also its a very accurate definition of capitalism - "being in it for yourself!".
You don't have to loose your sense of self to belong to a comunity, you just have to respect and tolerate others and consider them just as you consider yourself. Equally they have to respect your sense of self. Communism doesn't prohibit a sense of self, it just encourages cooperation and the greater good rather than pursuing individual goals. Admiral concepts, practically rather poor as greed inevitably wins out, just as in capitialism. Wow! Capitalism and Communism are both flawed by greed, who'd have figured they were so alike?

Wow Marc! That's a surprisingly accurate account, I wouldn't have expected you (as a conservative) to put that accross in such scathing terms. I'm proud of you!
I guess from time to time we forget that Al Gore actually WON the last General Election, curiously, through Court Ruling on Recounts been stopped, faulty voting equipment, win declarations by the TV networks and just plain cheating. Bush now occupies the Whitehouse.
Oh well another Despotic Regime to be overthrown!
I am a HUGE movie buff and I can tell you that I was deeply disapointed by this one. Don't fall for any of the advertisements- it hardly qualifies as an action movie, it's mostly just this guy going from place to place. I mostly like Jude Law and Nicole Kidman but their love story in this was crap. They talk to eachother like, twice before he leaves, and then we are supposed to buy all this wooden acting that they are the only ones meant for eachother.
The only good thing was the supporting cast- quite a colorful bunch of characters! But other than that, the movie was a big thumbs down.
Farenheit 9/11 was pretty good. I felt some parts dragged a bit, and I would like to see a movie coming from the opposite point of view(even though I'm more liberal), but overall it was well done.
I just came back from Farenheit 9/11 and I can assure you it has changed me completely nad I am now and completely against George W. Bush. I still support the freeing of Iraq but also think Bush is both a pure idiot and a greedy selfish son of a bitch and deserves to not only be voted out of office but strung up a sour apple tree.
This is great to hear! I went on June 25th when it came out officially here at the FOX Tower in Portland, Oregon, and it was really interesting. And the fire alarm went off halfway through too - had to evacuate the building so that made it even better lol. Second time I went was just yesterday, so now I've liberated two friends w00t w00t! And the movie theatre had technical issues this time haha...I guess I'm just cursed when it comes to that film.
Wah-hey! We'll make a liberal out of you yet Marc!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Congratulations! Welcome to The Dark Side!
lol
The Day After Tomorrow is a great film. Aside that only about 10 percent of the film was fiction (lets face it, it's going to happen at *some* point, just not 16 weeks away!) it also has a great soundtrack and the opening sequence flying over Antarctica is truly amazing on the big screen.
I work at a movie theater (a big corperate one unfortunatly, but still...) so I get to see a lot of movies on my half hours breaks. From what I can tell, dodgeball's really funny, stay until after the credits on that one. Anchorman is really bad, and everyone else agrees on that. Around the world isn't too good, but might be ok if your bored. The day after was pretty good, lotsa action.
Now what I really want to see if FH911, but my theater doesn't have it.
I hate movies, and have only seen about 10 in my entire life - but I know a lot of people love movies, so good luck to them
"Look everybody, it's Holden Caulfield!"
I used to hate movies, but then I took Media Studies A level so I was practically forced to like movies. Now I love them, can't watch too many!
I really like the Documentary films, always a treat!
