My bangs are reaching a length where I NEED to have them parted just to see ok, but I'm having trouble getting the part to stay in place. My bangs easily cover my eyes when I let them fall naturally, and I can pull them to my upper lip almost, so they have enough weight to pull themselves down. It wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't opposed to heavy gel, I'd just slick it all back. What I'm trying to achieve is just an inverted V shape, like how Surferdude's hair is in the July photo. In fact my hair is even the same length and color as his.
I do blowdry my hair, cause when I let it air dry it gets little flips all over, and besides it takes like 4 hours to dry. I mentioned that because I was thinking, if I were to pin my bangs in position while I blowdry, and if I keep them parted with a comb, would the folicles change direction to make the part permanent? My says that this would train the hair to grow that way on it's own, which is what I want ultimatly.
Thanks,
Keith
All you can do really is wait it out, try wearing a hat.
I have the same problem. I can put most of my hair in a pony tail, but the bangs aren't quite long enough. I found some pretty discreet hair clips that I use to clip my bangs back. Pay a visit to the hair accessories aisle at the drugstore or department store and you'll likely find something that will help.

Hey, thanks a lot man for mentioning me lol!
I don't use any gel products in my hair, just Loreal Kids Juicy Grape conditioner and Aussie moist shampoo. That July pic was actually a good pic, it doesnt normally stay like that, just enough for the photo unfortunately. As soon as your bangs look alright to put behind your ears, it should look and you should feel a lot better about your hair. My hair almost touches my upper lip, I'd say less than another half inch. And my hair is a lot blonder and lighter normally in daylight than in that photo. I absolutely MUST part my bangs now as they ALWAYS get in my eyes, but I love the feeling, of the wind blowing my hair against my cheeks, eyes and nose. My best advice is to train your hair to part, and after a few months, it will have a natural tendency to part in the middle. I started parting my bangs a long time before they even touched my eyes btw.
Yes, Surferdude is correct.
I'll just add a comment for what it is worth: since your hair isn't used to being parted, I would do this while it was wet or damp. AND..............unlike most people who seem to part their hair by combing all back and then parting, try combing all forward and shaking your head a bit. You just might see a trace of where your natural part will be. Take a comb and run it down the middle. Part it in one of the rows. Being in a damp state it should stay put for a while. Later on if it starts going crazy, do the same again............but be sure it is in a dampened state. Too bad you are against Gel, for at your point a few weeks of using this would probably do the trick much faster.
And, just so you don't worry..........a part WILL appear as the hair gets longer. Think of it this way: Have you ever in your whole life seen a guy with Long Hair without a part? Only those that comb all straight back and the hair is in a tail might be the exception visually...........but the part is in there. Gravity at some point will force the hair to one side or the other.
