Hello everyone, I'm new here. I'm so glad I found a board like this one! Well, I'm a female so I hope this is ok? I noticed that this board is mainly about long hair on men. I also looked at some of the hair pics on here, and I have to say a job well done gentlemen!
I have great respect for a men who have long hair! That's why I thought, ok I'll try and get some info here on my hair problem.
I hope you guys can help me out. I have very thick hair, and about a year ago I cutted it into layers. It looked good and my hair was managable. But now, it's kinda getting that "hanging" attitude, which leaves me frustrated! But the good news is, since the cut, my hair was able to grow faster and is healthier. I have two options:
1. I either cut it into layers again, or
2. I let it grow untill it reaches past my middle back (it was this lenght before I cutted it)
The thing is, if I let it grow, it gets too difficult to handle and I get huge headaches because of the weight of my hair. Another thing is, I have wavy kinda hair (not too much), that curls out on the ends.
Are there any products I can use to help with this?
Thanks,
Thee Longhaired Gal

Hey welcome to the board. Don't worry we are not sexist and I love the ladies :) Your hair sounds like it is alot like mine except I haven't ever cut my hair like that. My advice for you is to stick it out and let it grow as long as you want it. I am 2 years without cuts and 6 years into growing long. Be on this board as long as you like (We need more ladies on here anyway) I would guess you could use some conditioner. These guys can tell you the right products.

Hi Dwayne!
Thank you for the reply! Yes, we do have almost the same hair...I will see what I can do to get a pic of my hair to show you. You might get a better idea of what I mean about the curling part in my hair. I've been using loads of conditioners, but I use hairmasks mostly. Another thing is, my hair is kinda on the oily side....so too much conditioner makes it sometimes "greasy looking". But I still use it about 2 to 3 times a month depending on my hair's mood!
Will take the brave step to grow it all out again :)
Thanks for the advice!
Oh, and your hair is amazing, looks kinda silky almost. What products do you use? Do you also battle with the splitends?
Thee Longhaired Gal
I use Suave. I do not battle with split ends. Thanks for the hair complement :) I hope I get to see a pic of you soon ;)

Hi, I've submitted a picture of my hair. Any advice would be welcomed.
Thanks,

Hi,
I'd say let your hair grow. Us guys tend to like long hair on women. As for the curling ends, it would be easier for us to help if you posted a picture of yourself. Do you have one?
I will get a pic as soon as I can and then post it here. Thanks for the help!

You should let your hair grow. I have curly/wavy hair myself and it was quite big and unmanageable when it was shorter (that was many years ago). As it gets longer the only real problem is tangling; I wonder whether there will ever be a definitive solution to it that does not involve a haircut :-)

Hi again!
Well I got some pictures of my hair to show you what I mean by the curling part at the ends.
From the side you can see the "hanging" part of my hair...that's where I have the problem...it's kinda straight untill in the middle of the my hair's lenght, then it starts to curl.
Would appreciate your help and advice! And please give me some names of products that will help with this.
I've tried many professional products from my local hairdresser, but they don't really do the job well.
Thanks,

I would let the nature take its course. Your hair looks great and trying to streighten it will damage it.
As you can see in the picture I have the same "problem" - in a higher degree :-) I have never tried to combat my hair's natural tendency to form waves and curls.

Well thank you for the advice...it's quite a battle (especially in the mornings) with my hair...I just wish all of my hair were curls...then at least it would look "normal" :) You've got some nice hair as well. I actually posted another pic of the side of my hair....but for some weird reason it didn't appear on here *thinking*...oh well, will try and send again, then you can see the difference between the straight and curly part of my hair.
