Does anyone have some knowledge of what vitamins, amino acids etc. to take for hair growth. Is it really necessary to buy over the counter products, or is a good diet all that is necessary. I am a vegetarian mostly, with the exception of some fish. I also wonder if hair grows faster at different times of the year. My hair has been growing for a year. I just started to take measurements which I will do every month. Of course, everyone, myself incuded, wants to have "REAL LONG HAIR NOW." All the better that it takes the time that it does. I imagine one learns some great things such as patients, of course, and once past the dreaded "awkward" stage, a genuine and positive acknowledgement of one's ability of accomplishment. Those long two years, (sounds like a blues tune) would certainly discourge me from cutting my hair short ever again. Yes, the reason I have long hair is for me. I think my hair is "beautiful," and so does my loving wife. I sincerely believe that it is in everyone's best interest and right, men and women, to explore one's own true-to-yourself identity, and to lovingly say it out loud. Yea, I love who I am, and I love, that you love who you are. All the "biggots," etc., what they need from us is a GREAT-BIG-SMILE. The universal language of all mankind. Hatred comes from being hurt. Let's be healers. Smile. Why don't you cut your ugly long hair! Response: I think your short hair is very good-looking as I can see that you like it very much, smile...Have a nice day...Smile Three words of enlightment: I CHOOSE PEACE. Happiness to everyone.........
Thanks for your encouraging words. Sentiments I am proud to share -- and glad that us "longhairs" can be an example of a good and honest attitude. Once you are comfortable with yourself, it's easier to cut thru the crap that can too often be part of our interactions with one another. I hope I and all of us can set a good tone around us. And I look forward to being and hearing about examples where we take the lead in being powerful people of peace. Thanks for the good words.
As for supplement ideas, apart from those labelled to "to promote healthy hair and nails," my own experience with hair that is somewhat thin in individual strands but fairly think looking all over, a good conditioner and "strengthener" or other leave-in lotions have helped my hair growth and health the best. Older postings here (check archives) have giveyou some more ideas about vitamins, etc.
Good luck with having the kind hair you want.

I looked up "Quyana." What a cool word, used as a name also. Meaning "Welcome," and as a name, here is something I found:
The name of Quyana creates an overly-sensitive nature which causes you to sense and feel far more than you can understand or put into words. You have a deep, artistic, and creative side which shows through a love for music and literature. Writing is a more natural mode of expression for your deeper thoughts and feelings than the spoken word. You have an ability to concentrate and work intently on anything which holds your interest. However, you prefer to avoid routine, monotony, and menial tasks. You enjoy the out-of-doors and find your greatest peace and relaxation from the beauty and harmony of nature. You prefer to limit your friendships and associations to those who share your interests and appreciate your quiet, refined ways. Others often find it difficult to understand you. Your feelings tend to build up within you and, if you cannot release them through a creative, constructive channel, you could suffer with frustration, moods, and much inner turmoil. This name causes tension in the region of the solar plexus, as well as the heart and lungs. Health problems would centre in those areas of the body.
Yup'ik (Alaska) Quyana tailuten Meaning Welcome
Thanks for adding a new word to my vocabulary.
I'm curious where you found the info about the word "quyana" (which I've also seen spelled a number of different ways up here in Alaska)?
Interesting perspective. Rings true for me. And I only thought the word was a common Yup'ik Eskimo synonym (of a sort) for such words as Aloha or Shalom or Salaam. Apparently you have to stand back a bit farter from your own cultural surroundings to see components of it in perspective. As I've heard and used the word "quyana" over the years, it is meant to communicate gratitude, sensitivity and a gentle spirit. Interesting to hear the additional information on what the word conveys. Makes you pause to consider the power of our words!

I think quyana also means "thank you," and Tailuten means "come here."
Together, "quyana tailuten" means welcome. I would say it has many uses depending on the context of what one is conveying. It may also be used in a mnemonic way to harness the profundity of a given situation; Of course like Gestalt, with no real or tangible way to describe it in words, only with emotional feeling.

How long is your hair now, and how long do you plan to grow it?
My hair in the front is down to my jawline, and in the back, half way to my shoulder blades. As for how long I plan to grow it, I have no agenda. Probably to it's terminal length, unless it starts to drag on the ground, ha ha. Thank you for your reply and support.
