Hello everyone,
I have a question about stylists and Redken.
I know of one place in my village which sells Redken products, and I'd go right in and buy them straight away, only it's a salon and not a shop. I've seen the Redken bottles displayed in the window, but I've never even been to a salon, let alone THAT particular salon. My question is, as I don't know the ways, is it wrong, or would it be allright to walk into the salon and purchase the Redken shampoo and conditioner and leave, having nothing done to my hair? Would that be seen as being rude? Or do I have do make an appointment, have a trim, flash my teeth, make friends etc?
Or alternatively you could buy them over the internet from somewhere like http://www.lookfantastic.com
Naw you can just go in and buy.
Redken have a non-diversification policy which means their products will only be sold in Salons, or rather "should" only be sold in Salons.
Their idea is that only qualified stylists should give hair care advice and therefore their products should be "dispensed" by qualified stylists.
Fortuneatly for me as a Redken user, an non-uk resident I've found a couple of Web Sites which Sell Redken Products and will happily ship to your door for minimal cost:
So if you still feel uncomfortable going into the Salon, you can order online, credit/debit cards accepted.
Sorted
Just do it. Theay all amke a commision on what they seel so no one will mind you just stopping by.
I've gone into a couple of salons just to purchase professional products and always had a good experience. The bottom line is, they are going to make money for cutting your hair or selling you products. I've usually found them quite open to discussion and helpfull too. One thing to keep in mind though, if there is a line of people waiting for cuts, styles, and perms, they will probably want to focus on them and might seem to be rushing you on through. I would suggest looking for a slower time where the employees will not be so rushed and should be able to speak to you. If not, then maybe I was completely wrong and they dont appreciate your business, but only one way to find out.
I do it all the time, especially for the products "my" salon doesn't sell.
Salons sell many differect things....products, services, etc..
Question: Do you feel guilty when you get a haircut, color, etc., then don't purchase products? Same difference...
No problem Surferdude.
You can walk right into ANY Salon any time you want and buy it without even having to smile, wink, show you teeth, ID or whatever. :-)
No obligation to have ANY cutting or work done to your hair by them. They will be more than happy to make a sale on any of the products which earn them money. Hey.....even with a Halloween Mask on they would sell. (Just don't go in with a "Bank Robber" outfit!) lol
Hope this product has good results for you. So far from what I have seen is that whatever you have been doing and using HAS achieved fantastic results!
Justin~
Just run in and out. No problem. They like the business...it's way easier for them just to sell products and then to work (i.e., cutting hair)
