Hey,
Been growing my hair for a little over a year now and recently measured it to be around 14-15cm. My hair is light brown/slight ginger and is pretty thick.
Over the last 13 months I've had 2 trims and a thinning at home and pretty much let it go. Problem is that my hair is too long to leave untied but not long enough to tie. There is the option of just tying the top up and leaving the back to just hang there but I cant get all the hair back.
I shampoo and condition my hair 3-4 times a week and brush it about the same.
Anyone care to give me tips?
Sounds like you are in the latter part of the awkward stage. For me it was the most difficult part for the reasons you give--too long to tie back, too short not to. So, I did the following. With the help of gels and spray (tried to find the friendliest to my hair possible) I pulled of a ponytail. In other words. I got as much in the ponytail as possible and then used gel and spray, mostly on the sides, to get them to look like they were in the tie.
Some will say--why bother--just let it hang. I was and am a teacher, and letting hair fly and hang in my face would not have worked in my setting. While my hair is nobody'd business, I also take the attitude that in a culture that doesn't really go for long hair, I don't need to give people reason to be hostile to me. Crazy looking hair on a professional would provoke people, so I used the hair products.
Give it a try and see how it works for you. Good luck.
