hi, i was talking to a new worker today at work about long
hair, i ask him what kinda shampoo is best for hair and he
said he doesn't use shampoo he uses ivory soap, he saids
shampoo has chemicals in them that causes ur hair to fall
out, i said well soap drys out the hair, he said the reason
for that is soap has animal fat (tallow) which cause dry
skin but he uses indain hemp to mostizes his hair, shampoo
has chemicals in it that strips all the oils out of hair
that does more damage than soap, u don't see people using
shampoo on their under arm hairs or pubic hairs do you?? he
saids it's all about the money the big companys are after,
he sent me a website about the chemcials in shampoos and
other household products to read,,
http://www.rimart.com/behealthy/myths.htm i would like to
know from yous is it a good idea to use soap instead of
shampoo?? please write a post,, thank-you
that are like bars of soap, but they're shampoo - Liggett's is the first one that comes to mind, and I've also read that Kirk's Castile Soap can be used as a shampoo (that's what it says on the soap's wrapper, anyway) but I've never tried it. It seems to me that regular soap like Ivory or whatever could be REALLY drying to the hair and make it dull, rather than shiny. I'm sticking with shampoo, myself.
I remember washing my hair with soap in the creek when I was a kid. It made the hair stick together and become almost impossible to comb through. I certainly wouldn't want to have to try that with long hair.
If you're concerned about the chemicals in shampoo (and I think it's a reasonable concern - the chemicals in many products may be useless or even harmful) perhaps you can find something more organic in a natural-foods-type store. In fact, if you find anything good, perhaps you could mention it here.
My local health food store (Toronto-Giant Carrot or Big Carrot, can't remember) makes an all purpose cleaner out of Horse-tail grass, it smells funny, but works well for all types of cleaning. (haven't baught any lately though it lasts a long time) A skin-Doctor recommended it to my mother who has dry skin. It is all natural, and must be available elsewhere..
