hey, i am about 3 1/2 months into growing my hair out and i have question for you in particular but to anyone who can answer it. first, let me say that, from the pics i will be posting soon, you can't tell what my hair is really like. normally my hair is rather curly, hence the name. :) anyway, i was wondering if there are any special bits of info i might need to know like what kind of shampoo/conditioner i should try and help prevent tangles and such. i have noticed that when i wet my hair, i have to untangle it a little before washing it. nothing bad but still. thanks peeps! oh, and i'm sorry i'm really late with my pics, my youth director hasn't had the film developed yet. i'm trying though.
First off, congratulations on the decision to let your hair grow.
Second off, get ready of a looong haul. Whereas straight-haired folk can get the long "look" in as little as 18 months, curly-hairs can take 2 years or more to get any kind of long look, depending on how tightly your hair curls.
As for the tangles, you might as well get used to them, because curly hair always has tangles. The only detangling I do is to work major clumps out when I have conditioner in my hair. I (and I believe Redleader is the same) don't brush or comb my hair, mainly because I can't.
The akward stage is a bit rough, because your hair may have the tendancy to grow up and out instead of down, but my suggestion is to just stick with it and tough it out, rather than getting maintainance trims (those will make it take longer to get out of the akward stage).
Other than that, just be patient and welcome!
thanks man
