hi everyone... here's a new survey... describe what does ur hair look like, when u just got outta the bed, sayin' also how long it is and what type of hair you have.
mine, as many of u know, is rather curly, frizzy in the back, shoulder-length in the back and middle nose in the front (i'm talkin' about when it's wet, otherwise it misses a inch in the front and a couple in the back).
when i get up, it's shot up and back in the front, quite straight, while, in the back, is smooth, really curly and stick out everywhere
answer, please!
My hair usually looks good when I get up because I keep 9 soft cloth ties along its entire length at about 4 inch intervals. My hair is maybe 60% straight, 20% wavy, and 20% curly. This makes it extremely tangle prone. On close examination my hair appears to be mostly medium with some fine and coarse mixed in. Click on my photo to see just how long it is, a picture is worth a thousand words. Also add 1 or 2 inches to the length you see in the photo which was taken in March. Absalom
Absalom, that's good news to hear, that you haven't reached terminal! I was hoping it would grow longer.
I've got shoulder length hair parted in the middle. For some reason in the morning it's always parted to the side extremely far over, like a combover. Some times it will be on the left sometimes on the right. I must toss and turn alot in my sleep.
6-7 inches, wavy/curly.
It differs really. Some day I can wake up and just run a hand through my hair and look presentable.
Other days the hair clumps together and seems to stick to my head
My hair is dirty blond, mid-back length, straight/wavy, thick but with fine hairs.
When I wake up it is fairly like it was when I went to sleep though some of the waviness has flatened out. If I am going to wear it in a tail that day, I don't necessarily have to do anything but brush it.

My hair 6.6 inches all over, I think the sides are slightly less though.
I can tell you exactly what my hair's like, as I've just woken up lol, it's summer holidays, the kid needs his sleep!
Where my bangs should reach the bottom of my nose, or mouth when pulled straight, the bangs spring up to my eyebrows/eyes. The sides are straight, not flipping or doing anything crazy, and the back is straight, if a little wavy like it should be.
How do I remedy this?!!? I carefully detangle my hair with my fingers first, brush my hair, and wear a cap for an hour. After an hour, when I take the cap off, my bangs reach my nose again.
My hair is naturally slightly wavy, but I normally style it straighter, its about 11 inches long on top 8 inches long at the back. So my bags fall just past my chin and my hair falls past my shoulders at the back.
I now sleep with my hair in a loose ponytail, so when I untie it in the morning my hair is normally pretty straight apart from the kink at the back caused by the hair tie. I'll normally shower and restyle my hair each morning anyway so the state its in is largely irrelevant, but sleeping with the ponytail gives me the option of just combing it and leving the house if I don't have time to shower, as thanks to the ponytail I wake up virtually tangle free.

I sleep with my hair tailed with at least two bands.
In the morning, I remove all the bands and refresh my tail.
Looks and feels great with no tangles.
when i get up mine is a completly tangled mess
if i wear a regular ponytail its even more tangled
but also i should say that my hair is EXTREMLY curly, so much that it's mid-back yet looks shoulder-length when it curls up which is pretty much always
Morning hair makes me look like tarzan. No tangles, but just messy and greasy-looking.
Tarzan shower in morning. Tarzan turns into Oversurf after shower.
2+ years growth, very straight hair past shoulder blades.
Luckily for myself, not all that bad. I sleep with my hair pulled above my head and since reading Luckskinds way of doing it am now sleeping with a Ponytie, (actually 2) in and not all that tight. Makes a big difference. Combing is very easy now, but I attribute that to the weekly "Hot Oil" treatments. Guess I am quite fortunate.
My hair when I wake up always feel greasier than usual. Maybe I sweat a lot in bed. However, I don't typically get tangles (and if I do then they're easy to fix) and I just comb through my hair a couple of times to get my hair going normally for the rest of the day. HOWEVER, on some really bad days, I'll wake up and my hair'd be 'bent' a certain way because I slept on it - that's require more brushing and patience. LOL.

...if I do not tie it in a ponytail with two ties...
I have curly hair, 20 ... 25" long, and it's quite stubborn in its insistence to get tangled. But if I tie it for the night it is quite manageable in the morning.
And a memory from long ago, when I had short hair: sometimes part of my hair would stick upwards and was all but impossible to subdue it. What was needed was the weight of the long hair - that has solved the problem.
A Linux Longhair
My hair is long enough (~3 feet) so that the only thing it can do is to hang straight down, even after I just wake up! The only problem is it may have some tangles.

Slightly tangled, but not so badly that five minutes with a brush won't fix it.
