Hey - tried a topknot out yesterday. It worked grand and I even got a few compliments on it! Keeps the hair out of my face, and I can wear it to work which is great.
Any comments, tips or ideas welcome :)

Oh yeah... I forgot the photo again LOL.
I'm getting good at that.
Here you go.
I must say that your growth has been great. Me and you are at the same place in growth, though mine is a little longer in the back. your a good inspiration, and the topknot really suits you.
Nice one. Wilson
Thanks man.
I cut my hair at the back and sides about 3 months into growing so I wouldn't grow a mullet, so the back is shorter than the rest, though it was grown from a shaved head... well, about an inch but thats as short as my shaver goes.
Hope your growing is going well - have you posted any pics?

Hi, how did you do that "topknot"? i have never tried tieing my hair back or no how to, hehe.. and i think now my hair is long enough to try that. I was just wondering how exactly you did that??? i tried doing it myself with a hair tie, but i dont know how to actually "tie it" so to speak... i think my hair is long enough to do that, i just dont no how to actually tie it :(
Hi,
If you read me replies to surferdude's posts, they explain how to - there's some pictures there too. Hope it helps.

Tom Cruise in "Last Samurai" meets Wolverine from the X-men movies!
Looks great on you! I've tried this before, but with my hair type it really looks ridiculous on me.
It is great to be able to get it out of your eyes though.
One of the nicest compliments I've ever recieved - 2 guys I'd be more than happy to look like :)
When I started growing I decided I was going to aim for a Last Samurai look... now just gonna let it go and do it my way :)
The freedom of spirit I have gained over the last few months is starting to reflect in the things I do, and even the way I look.
And part of that is due to you, and lots of the guys on the board - I didn't think there were so many open, genuine and supportive people.
Thanks!

I was just about to suggest that exact combination! : )
Hey Wolfy, could you explain how to do that? Are your bangs tied in the knot?? If they are, that's tremendous growth!!! My head's quite long and sticks out at the back, I'm just so big headed lol. Some advice how to do it would be great, I'll have a go then.
It looks absolutely fabulous on you, it's a great style to have now.
Thanks man.
It's not too hard to do, and great if you can't tie a ponytail yet like me :)
All you do is make a tail pretty much as close to the crown of your head as possible. You put the tie around it, but on the last twist, tuck it under itself so it's doubled over.
And presto. One topknot.
If it doesn't reach just yet, it will soon.
Good luck dude.

Just tried it, my bangs just fall short of my crown, I managed to tie the bangs into a topknot, but it doesn't lay flat, it just bounces up and down. Should I be including some hair from the sides/back of my head to keep it down? Am I doing it right?!
Thanks
Not quite - here's a side pic of the first one I tied - you take the hair from above the top dotted line, though idealy I think it's supposed to be all the hair from the lower dotted line.
Not 100% on that one, but I think it'd look better.

HA!
I did it again.
Sorry everyone... I'd make a sorry post, but I think one more would constitute spamming! LOL.
Anyway, here's the pic.

Lol, thanks, that did help a bit. I tried it again, but cant seem to get enough weight to hold it down. Are the last pieces of hair sticking out at the back of the topknot your bangs?
My hair reaches my top lip, about 6.6 inches, but I guess I'll have to wait longer. Maybe because my hair's so wavy it's adding volume and causing it to lift.
Here's a pic, thanks for helping me out.
Because my hair's not flat, it's not stretching and laying flat enough, so it appears shorter. I don't even think it's a topknot. As you can see, it's not secure at all.
I really appreciate your help.
(You probably want to skip the tiara.)
The thing is, you grab up the hair you want to put in the topknot, and start twisting. As it starts to try to kink, you coax it into a flat little bun, twisting it into a spiral as much as you can, or you let it rise up a little. Then you can wrap it a couple of times with a pony band.
Some sort of hair gel or mousse might make it easier til your hair gets longer.

Sorry... just read that and it doesn't read right.
You only take hair from the top part of your head, like from the bump up - let the bottom part hang down as normal. Also, if the bangs don't fit in, you can push them behind your ears and it kinda works.
Hope that's understandable.
If not, let me know and I'll take pictures of it properly.

Ahh, thanks man, I just clicked refresh and saw this post. It's pretty much what I've tried, the bangs fit in, but it just sort of bobs up and down, it's not laying flat to my head. Does yours do that?
Nope - it's tight to my head. Doesn't move an inch - try to get a bit of the lower hair in there, and when you double it, make sure it's quite tight.
Reminds me of the footballer .....David Beckham as he had it simaliar to this.
Regards Jon
Looks great. You seem to have really thick and healthy hair. The Last Samurai comes to mind when looking at that picture :)
Thanks for the support - you're great.

It looks good on you Wolfeyes.
And it works for me too - I think its great!
Great style. That is exactly how I wear my hair for exercise and at night. It keeps the hair off the neck and keeps the length dry from sweat. I have never gone out with my hair in a topknot, perhaps I'm not daring enough!
