Who thinks this place should be revised? I think it would look awesome if it was like this place! It obviously shouldn't have dbz/anime stuff but it could be like the same layout as that forum. I think this place would be alot more organized and if someone wanted to talk about something in an old topic they could post it and then we could have it so it shows that there's a new message and it will instantly be at the top of the page so others can view it unlike when you post here it is hard to notice. It also would be great to be able to edit your messages. =)

That layout is nice if you have a decent computer. They've got lots of table tags and css which makes the pages load slower, take up more space onscreen, and sometimes cause printing problems (you have to go to a special page just to print what you see, otherwise the text might get chopped). I like these oldstyle forums where it's all nice and simple, but it could use some minor upgrades.
See the link.
This place is just boring the way it is, it needs some spicing up. I doubt this place will ever change though. ~Juuhachigou~ =O
Sorry this place doesn't meet your "exciting" standards.
It's an online forum. It's not required to look like a carnival is going on.
Hey man, just helpful suggestions, no need to get personal.
he wasn't - just disagreeing with you.
Leave well alone.
I agree. When I visit a web site I expect to a web pages. I like this web site the way it is.
About the carnivals, I don't waste time looking at a blank screen waiting and waiting and waiting only to give up and click the browser's back botton and never return to that web site again.
Whats so boring about it? There is really only one topic to talk about and that is long hair. I think it would look stupid with only one topic unlike that board that has several topics of intrest. Add on some neon green with a black background and it is a recipe for a headache I think. What would you suggest and why?
if ypu do not like it here - which many of us do - then................
Your call
heh..its not that hard to do I use phpbb at my gaming website. I like it though, its alot more convient and fairly easy to modify.
This place is easy to ,friendly, supportive and helpful with advice.
Let's just keep it the way Bill with Sorted's help have made it.
I like this forum exactly how it is, it's easy to use and you don't have to log in all the time. If we had sub topics, we'd all miss each other's messages. It's better this way, trust me.
A forum with topics that turn into ongoing conversations with a thousand replies? No thanks. I like the way that this system encourages fresh threads.
"Juuhachigou?" Its "Blonde" Right? Or the person formally known as "Blonde".
You ought to be careful of your handle change, cos very few people will have realised its you and you'll be treated like a newbie, when infact your a regular. And no-one likes a newbie who slags off the look and style of an online community.
I mean would you go into someone's house and slag of their drab curtains on the first time you've met them - I think not... revert to your old handle and you might be given a little more latitude for your opinion.

If they ever did decide to switch to a different software, I'd like them to keep this feature, which I've never seen on other boards.
The folks who maintain this board obviously have, and continue to, put an enormous amount of work into it. I believe most of us appreciate it and enjoy the site just the way it is. As the saying goes; If it aint broke, dont fix it.
Yuck. I've seen much better board software than that. We had a discussion about this a while back, and most people agreed that the current setup is best. I tend to agree with them now.
Bandwidth is a resource that has to be paid for by the board owner, Victor. The phpBB forum software that you are suggesting has plenty of features, elaborate layouts, and nice graphics. All of these items use substantial amounts of bandwidth. The use of phpBB forum software for this community would increase the cost to Victor who is offering this service to the community for *FREE*. In my opinion the current software serves it's purpose and attracts people who are drawn to the content rather than the packaging.
I'm rather impatient and have a slower connection. I don't have time to wait and sit while my computer is loading the board. Basic HTML and cgi are the best for me so I can read and answer quickly. I'm suprised he even allows pictures to be posted since as you said, it increases the bandwidth. I would also like to thank Victor, the owner, for providing this free service to us. Thank you.
Agreed, on such a well read forum you have be very concerned about bandwidth. However its possible to acheive high impact layouts with low bandwidth sites. Style free XHTML mark-up coupled with CSS to apply the "fancy elements" is the perfect medium for low-bandwidth well designed web sites.
Imagine how much bandwidth Yahoo would save if they adopted a XHTML/CSS coding style rather than all the rubbish code they use at the moment...
However, the present layout is largely style free, which means the only data transfered is mark-up which makes the site fast loading and low-bandwidth, so its in a very efficient state.

I disagree with this totally.. one of the main things i like about this place is the simplicity.. you get loads of information and dont need anything to be complicated..
i dont want that taken away from me! lol
The ONLY new feature that I wish this board had was the one where a topic heading will get pushed to the top when a new message is added to a thread. Anything else is unnecessary (and, when it comes to assorted add-on graphics, even distracting) in my opinion.
This system works just fine. No frills, easy to use and it gets people's messages across which is what message boards are all about as far as I'm concerned
I do get very fed up with scrolling. It would at least be much nicer if the threads appeared 'collapsed' instead of expanded.
Hmm... It doesn't bother me too much, I have a wheel mouse, so I just flick the wheel to scroll... But a solution might be to increase your screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels or higher still. You'll see a lot more of the page that way and that means you won't need to scroll.
Sorted
If you right-click on the first post of a thread, and select "open link as new window", you can view and navigate through the thread while leaving the main window unchanged. When you're done with the thread, close the window, your index is still right where you left it.
You could also SHIFT+CLICK it has the same effect, but you still need to scroll between messgages on the main page.
Cool, thanks for that, Sorted!
I'll be gone for a few days, but I'll surely be back:)
When I tried this it opened a "Save page as..." window. Doesn't work in my OS/browser.
I have a laptop, so no wheelmouse, and the res is already 1024x768 and will go no higher. I am finding all the scrolling a royal pain.
I agree with Sorted and Gollan. This site was revised not 4 months ago. I think it serves it's purpose rather well. Try going on here with a more beefed up computer. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Victor Engel for creating this whole thing, as well as Bill and Sorted for helping keep it up, and everyone for posting. Be happy with this site, it's fine how it is!

People wanting to sell new software, new computers and exclude average people from the Internet.
I don't want this web site to change. Too often I've seen web site destroyed by "improvements" that only cause computers to crash and pages to take forever to view.
