Hi!
My hair is long enough to braid and I have tried to do it but its very frustrating to do it myself. I find it difficult to coordinate the braiding using a mirror. I did have a friend do it a few times but I don't like to ask others to do it. Is there a method to braiding one's own hair or directions somewhere I can look for?
Thanks
Here is a site you might want to take a look at. I LOVE braids on a man. I especially like french braids. So far, I have let either my wife or friends do the braiding, as I am not good at it myself. If no one is around, I just do a ponytail for the time being. Good luck, Jazbrd

SFMarkh: I'll do yours if you do mine!
When practicing braiding techniques, I've found "memorizing" the
folding-over technique with your hands is more effective than
trying to look backwards in a mirror. Another set of hands,
as in massage, tho', seems to always be most effective for me.
I especially like wearing braid(s) for a dressier look for
events and 'formal' occasions. Besides Halloween. . .
I, likewise, don't often have the patience to braid my own hair,
since it tends to get tangled easily and look uneven. I have
found it easier to do the small braid thing from behind the ear and down the shoulder, which I've always liked as a way to add a bit of depth and style to the mane. I use the mirror straight on to
help guide my hands for this style.
Considering wearing a couple of larger braids, sorta Navajo style,
as my hair gets really long. Like what others are suggesting before bedtime to reduce morning tangles. It's long enough on me to do
it now, but personally I like the wavy look over the shoulders best
for my 'daily look.'
(By the way, if the SF in your title stands for San Francisco,
I'll be back in the Bay Area in a couple of weeks.
