Hey, I really admire your curly hair. I was wondering what your hair looked like when you started growing it out.. I have very thick curly hair that's at about 4-5 inches (although it doesn't look it, cause of the curlyness obviously) with rather big curls , not too small or tight, that has a tendency to grow out or up. My question is, how long did it take for your hair to start falling down, or did your hair grow down from the beginning? I'm having major frustration here, it looks terrible, lots of fuzzy broken hairs sticking out, I am at my wits end. Thanks for any info,
Dan C.

My hair started a downwards trend almost a year and half into growing it. Granted, it really doesn't look as bad as you think (or as bad as some people say it is). My hair is at about 11.5-12 inches, and it still doesn't reach below my chin in the mornings, when it's been scrunched up all night. But on the positive side, many women find this look attractive and "exciting". You should grow it for your own purposes though.

Don't get frustrated about it, that'll do you no good . . ..a couple of pointers though for curly hair is 1) BE PATIENT
2) OBSERVE POINTER #1
3) because the hair within a curled spiral is held in even after it falls out naturally (as all hairs eventually do), when you shower, and shampoo your hair you may get a handful of hair and think you're thinning. Part of it is due to the fact that you have more mass to your hair, the other part is due to the hairs not falling out and getting blown away during the day, so they all come out during the shower (or most of them anyways).
4) If the frizziness and fuzziness is just too much to bear, or some occasion requires more "tame" hair, a small palm-full of conditioner used as gel will work miracles.
Thanks man, I appreciate you taking the time to answer me. That was the confidence I needed to let me keep growing. Thanks again,
Dan C.
