Both my girl friend and I have long hair. Actually, our hairs have the same length, which is about 24 inches. Both of our hairs are single length. My height is 510 and she is 55. However, her hair looks much longer than I. Hers almost reaches her waist and It looks very long. Mine is only about middle of my back and it looks only with one half of her length. When I wear it in a ponytail. It looks even shorter. Our bodies are almost the same proportioned. Except I am 5 taller and my head is a little bit bigger, I dont understand what difference between us makes so big appliance difference.
Jim,
Its obvious isn't it, you are 5" taller and your head is bigger than your girlfriend's.
You also did not mention whether both of your hair is straight, wavy or curly which would definitely make a difference in how long it actually looked on you.

Neck length can also make a big difference on how far down your body your hair falls. And head size can affect how big people perceive your "do", since people often compare it to the size of your head.
