For the most part I've always wore my hair in a ponytail. Easy, convient, and all that.
But, lately I've been wearing it down. Even in public sanctions like the crowded mall. How brave am I? =] Not to mention, MANY girls are commenting on my length now. How long it is, how it's longer than there's and they ask if they can play with it.
Kinda weird? Yeah, but it's pretty cool too.
Anyway, do the guys that have the nerve to wear it down a lot get any good remarks from women about it? Or am I just lucky. =]
I wear my hair down much more often than in a tail. I am always amazed and surprised when I get compliments. I even get them from elderly women.
I think hair looks much better when just natural - that being down and loose.
You're not growing it long just to hide it so unless you have to tie it back to protect it you might as well wear it down as much as possible.
That pretty much sums up the first thought that popped into my head. :-) I have found that the longer the hair gets, the more often I wear it loose.
No, I don't believe for a second that it is "luck." It MUST look great! Otherwise, there would be not a single positive remark.
Funny how people claim to dislike long hair on the guy growing it out. But then when he reaches a great length he seems to draw people in as if magnetized.
Good observation! So true!
Dude,
I have butt length dark brown hair and I wear it down when I go out and about. I enjoy the attention I get. I was at Best Buy the other day and saw this dude with hair almost as long as mine, wearing it down also, he was getting looks. Women youn and old seem to like my long hair and dudes too, give me credit for keeping up the maintenance.
At work or when I'm active I tie it with multiple ties all the way down, but when it is loose hanging, it shows more and thats whats hot!!!
Eddie.
Yeah, I do.
Obviously not everyone, but certainly a few do comment, especially my female friends... and their mums LOL.
I wear mine down most of the time, but keep it back during work - in a topknot or just a high tail. Might look sillier, but it makes life easier til I can fit a proper ponytail, or at least a half-tail.
I guess it just depends on the girls - some like guys with long hair, though most prefer it short... and again it depends on the guy. Just cos a guy has long hair doesn't mean a girl who likes long hair is going to find him attractive. Obviously helps, but it doesn't make him superstud :)
Anyway, congrats on the comments you've recieved. Always a confidence-booster - essential when you haven't yet reached the stage where you're happy with your hair.
And even when you reach your goal length, it's always nice to hear a pleasant comment, whether it's hair-related or not.
Be well.

I seldom wear my down...period. Not even around the house! It has nothing to do with my nerve. Rather, it is a matter of being able to see!! If I allow my hair to fall naturally, I end up being behind a curtain of hair, with only a 3 inch slit to peek through. At minimum, I am forced to tie back the hair at my temples. Given that, it's easier to tie the whole thing back in a pony tail, than to try to keep just the sides back.
The few times I have gone out with my hair down (like around my high-rise apartment building), people either don't recognize me or are gobstruck by my hair.
As for compliments, yes, I do get them. Nearly all of them are from women who are envious of my hair's thickness.
Glad to hear you say that, William. Same experience here. When I do wear mine down around the house, it is only comfortable if I am not very active. Otherwise, it's all in my face, and the "curtain" image is perfect. I have gone out formally (symphony)with my hair down, but it required some spray to keep it fairly in place. This just reiterates that all hair is not alike--all hair is rather different. Some guys seem to have hair patterns and shapes that keep it more in place naturally. Some of us have to gather our hair into place in a variety of ways.

Its cool isn't it? My hair isn't as long as yours but I still get positive comments from people I know... its a great boost to your self-confidence.
I wear my hair loose less often these days as I find I still get very windswept and/or hot at the moment as its 30+ degrees everyday during the summer.
I'm just lucky, but your hair is certainly due all the praise it receives. :-)
Ahhh, how very relevent. I always wore my hair in a ponytail too. But today I met up with a friend whom I haven't seen for a year and after we had dinner I let it down (I can NEVER eat with my hair down) and she said she couldn't tell it was that long when it was tied up and said she wished her hair was like mine. She said that if she knew my hair was nicer than hers she wouldn't have gone to prom with me. And then she said "why do all the best guys have to be gay?"
So yeah, wearing it down does get me more compliments! I might do it more often.
Love,
Kiat T.
I wear my hair down as often as I can, because I love the look and feel of it. Only time I wear it in a ponytail is when I'm at work or its very windy out to avoid tangles.. Now that I have reached mid-backlength I use 2 or 3 hair ties when its real windy or when I'm sleeping to avoid tangles too.
Since my hair isn't yet long enough to tie up, I don't ever do so.
Last I had it long I mostly had it down, I felt a bit uncomfortable with a ponytail, dunno why.
