Hey ya'll,
There was some talk about how to make the hair wet looking and a product called "Solid Water" by Redken. I was wondering if any one has tried it since and has any comments on its effect, best way to use etc. etc.
I have curly hair that looks like a mess when dry...everybody keeps asking me why I am so hellbent on having long hair and making myself look ugly. But my hair looks nice and wavy when wet. So I am a bit desperate for such a product. Any other suggestions would be nice too, as I am *this* close to giving up.
Thanks in advance!

Although I have no info about 'Solid Water' I will suggest using jojoba oil. It really sounds like you have hair like me (curly, and sticks up in the morning). Jojoba will help out you hair, but the ultimate cure for unruly hair is gravity. When pulled straight my hair reaches to my mouth, but when it lies naturally, it curls up to above my eyes. Just in the past few days has my hair been getting a bit tamer. My advise is if it's real bad, wear a hat and stick it out. The end result may amaze you.
(note: that picture of me is about 1/2 a year old)
The "awkward stage" can be a rough ride for you curly haired folk, but if you tough it out despite unsupportive comments, your "looks nice and wavy when wet" comment will be changed into "looks nice and wavy when long."
Sorry I can't help with a product recommendation, curly hair is not my speciality.
I don't have curly hair at all, but I have heard several curly-haired people, including our own That "Ball" Guy, suggest using a small amount of normal conditioner as "gel" for curly hair. I imagine it'd be quite good for the hair, too. Give it a try, see how it works, I guess.
I feel like you do sometimes, but my hair is just slightly wavey. I go trims the first year, not I have megga flips in the back and around my ears =(

I sound like a broken record here but the best thing for curly hair is paul mitchel styling glaze. It looks like a gel in your hand but its more like a serum/cond it dry's dry tho.. not wet look, but it does make your hair shiny in a healthy looking as opposed to greasy/wet looking way. Redken water wax can be used to get a decent wet look if your interested.
Unfortunately for curly people, like myself (although in the picture i straightened it slightly to make it wavy), you are going to have bad hair days. Heck, it may seem that it's just more of hairstyle that never seems to go away...but it's best to leave it alone for a while. I'm serious. You may be do more damage if you are not careful. Overstyling is deadly. I'm starting to pay a bit. I have been blowdrying too much and now my hair is a frizzy mess. I'll have to leave it alone for a while before it will settle down.
That's my advice.
If you really want that "wet" look just stick your head under the sink every couple of hours then. It's cheaper.
