It's good to see a compliment being given to a woman but it can sometimes be embarassing for a guy. I was in a small coffee shop in Oban (west coast of Scotland) on my own last year, sitting having a coffee, when an elderly lady on her way out walked over to me and said quite loudly "I just thought I would tell you that you've got beautiful hair". The whole coffee shop went silent and just stared at me. I'm not the type of guy who likes to be the centre of attention so it was difficult for me to handle. Not sure which ended up hotter - the coffee or my face.
However, looking back, it was still nice to have received the compliment.
Hi there. I will be visiting Edinburgh (with a day trip to Inverness) in September. Would really appreciate any insider tips. If you have suggestions, please e-mail me. Thanks!

It was a good thing friend. One time I was standing in line at McDonalds and a rather conservative remote are of Idaho a few years ago when my hair was fairly long. A little old lady came up to me and asked me if I was from California. Everyone stared, and I just told her yes, LOL. I was not from california, but I figured it would give the old woman something to complain about. Remote Idahoans do not care for people from California. lol
