new thread
i've been posting on this board for over 2 years (started back sometime in 2002 under my old Cactus Jack screen name) and i have gotten some great advice and had some great discussions but now it seems like i'm suddenly unwelcome here,
same thing keeps happening, i try to stay on topic as much as possible and i keep getting attacked by certain members
i finally got some pics up and was going to post them but now after seeing some other members get flamed for posting pics i don't even know if i should bother
i want to contribute something posative to the board but it doesn't seem like anyone wants that.
i want to take part in a civilized discussion, not get drawn into yet another argument. i have enough stress as it is in my real life, i don't really need any from here
i'm sorry if this all sounds bad, i've been going through some very bad depression from stuff in my real life
plus having recently lost someone that i loved but thats going off topic now
if i'm really unwelcome here just tell me and i'll go
I am sure you are always welcome along with your contributions. As for those that "enjoy" to argue.............if possible just forget about them and don't get involved.
Being depressed at present, (and for good reason) puts you in an extra vulnerable position right now of being "attacked" by some idiot.
Hope you will be feeling better as time goes on. Time DOES heal.

I am unaware of anyone getting flamed for posting their pics. And I certainly don't think you are unwelcome. The only time flames seem to fly here is when people become disrespectful of each other's views or experiences.
I sometimes find that emails and board posts are easy to misunderstand. You cannot get facial expressions, tones of voice and body gestures in a post like you can standing and talking with someone. Perhaps you have misread.
I wouldn't worry about it. Keep posting and participating.

Weren't you the guy who was subject to violence at home with the abusers using your hair as an excuse ? Has anything improved for you in that area ? (I hope so).

If there is any change in the way people respond to your posts, I guess that the screen name change may have caused people to forget you. The name Cactus Jack easy to remember. The name The Dude may be thought of as just another guy. A name change takes time for people to remember the new name; When the car company Datsun changed it's name to Nissan, it took many years to get the new name recognized.
Another possible explaination for changes in responses to post is that it is election season in the USA. The media and politicians often play divisive issues to get people to send more money to each side of every issue. As a result there may be more debates and off topic posts/replies on all internet message boards. I guess the best thing to do with post that seem like flames is to ignore them.
I, and I think most other people, welcome your posts. I wish you good luck and hope that things get better for you.
