Im 17, and have always had an interest in growing my hair out. About 5 months ago i decided to go ahead with it and haven't cut it since. I always went with a relativley short style before, usually just spiked on top, and really didnt know much about what my hair would be like. Well therein lies the problem, i have some of the thickest and waviest hair that i have ever seen, at the current moment i have 2 viable options. 1, do nothing and look like I came straight out of 1971, or 2, slick it back entirley and set myself back to 1951. Now im a pretty big guy 6'1 250lbs, and finding any kindof style in what its at right now is near impossible, so any help from the board would be appreciated. I wont have access to a digital camera until tommorow, but i will post pic's then, thanks!

of an Awkward Phase! And you have thick & wavy hair which
makes things even MORE difficult for you.
O, God, there are not too many things you can do besides slicking it down
while it grows out.
The waves make your hair much fuller than someone with straight hair.
And if you can use something like L'Oreal MELTing Gel
to keep your hair in place,
it might be a great help to you.
Maybe some others will have more tips for you.
Good Luck!

Have been through that myself during the awkward stage - which for us with wavy hair lasts longer. I got along without using gels or anything else, until my hair grew long enough to settle under its own weight.
I am a pretty big guy myself (5'8" and 250+ lbs) and I don't mind being called Hagrid...
