Well, I have been looking for a while, and actually turned down a few jobs, because they would have mean cutting my hair. I finaly got my Real Estate liscense, and found a broker, and should hopefully be making an income again. This has been since I was laid off in februaury. I found an agent by chance, while I was taking my mom to the hospital for her cancer treatment, the lady in the waiting room and I got to talking, and guess what, she's a broker. She told me to get in touch with her once I get my liscense. I called her, she remebered me by name, and look, I was shocked. She told me not to worry about the hair, just dress the part, so I will. I figure keeping my hair, is worth dressing a little more preppy, nice. I can allways take it off at the end of the day.
So my point is, keep looking, don't cut your hair for a job you may not want. Eventually you'll find your way.
Also, anyone in southern california that needs a real estate agent, give me a email!
Good news - thanks for sharing it.
Good luck and happy growing
Sounds like a great opportunity. I was also in the Real Estate business years ago, just after I graduated from college. I had my broker's license but worked as an agent for another company. I also bought several rental properties, making some renovations, and selling for a substantial profit. Anyway, what I wanted to mention was my message about 12 or 13 postings ago, titled "Beautiful Ponytail". It's about a Real Estate agent on the TV show "House Hunters", and he had a magnificent mid-back length ponytail . . . and looked very professional.
Go for it, and good luck!
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S !...on getting a job...
and keeping your long hair!
I will start next week on a new job as systems administrator for a software company in Jersey City. At the interview a few days ago my hair and beard were never an issue, not even mentioned; they were only interested in my qualifications.
