We all know that mullets are out of style and unattractive. The one thing that's even more unattractive is a reverse mullet. I'm referring to the tendency of those in the awkward stages to cut their hair short in the back and let it grow in the front. This is of course the exact oppposite of a mullet, where the hair is cut short in the front and allowed to grow in the back. It looks silly either way, but if you're going to have a mullet atleast do the standard short in the front/long in the back mullet. Whatever you do don't get a short in the back/long in the front mullet.
Why are you here? I said n/m!
I think the look of having longer hair on top is very becoming. It also allows one to have hair all one length if you choose to grow it really long.
Later Cody
I also disagree, I like hair all one length and this is MUCH easier to catch up with long bangs/front hair and short back hair.
It was a popular style back in the 30's and 40's on the young guys trying to be hip. I don't know if they actually thought that was long or if it was just a style (I suspect the latter) but when they were sporting that style it never got longer, just some longish bangs essentially until styles changed to the next fad.
It's really made a comeback in the last decade or so. I'd credit the Flock of Seagulls and other bands in the New Wave era for bringing it back in force. Still don't know if guys with this style think it's long but I can't think of any I've seen actually growing it out to be anything near long.
I see this style as having the same "mindset" (though different in look) as the mullet where one wants a little extra "party" but doesn't want to get too far away from the safe short zone that is so "acceptable".
As always, time is the test.
Not so.
Not so.
To you? How about them?

I'm not trying to slam people with mullets. I'm trying to slam people that cut their hair short in the back so it doesn't look like a mullet. Honestly, short back/long front isn't any more hip or stylish than short front/long back. Heck I've seen runway models with borderline mullets, but never a reverse mullet. Of course everyone can do with their own hair what they want and it's none of my business, but don't get a reverse mullet thinking it will make you look hip or cool.
On a somewhat related strand here, one haircut I've seen recently that looks very unattractive (in my opinion, of course) is basically a reverse bowl cut, where, instead of the 'bowl' being fairly level, it angles down from the back to the front. So, the bangs are the longest part of the hair, and then it goes diagonally to the back of the head.. I can't understand why anyone would want to have a hair style like that.
Though that could be exactly what everybody else's been talking about here, and I just haven't realized it. Oh well.
The one you are describing is like the style the original poster descrbied, exceptthe the additional slant in length to the front. This particular style is referred to as an "A-line". I do like it though on women, its kind longish in that it allows some variations to the front & top but without a lot of bulk and weight around the neck. Its definitely cooler (as in not as hot) in the summer.
I saw a guy with that I think, let me demonstrate using Art:

The Reverse mullet really isn't that bad. One of my friends has hair that is medium length in front but short in back and he looks ok. He was a long hair in the past but he cut his hair when he got lice.
First of all, I think some mullets are attractive. Sorry, but I would rather see a nice mullet with silky smooth hair over a guy with long hair that's frizzy and ugly. Face it, we all have our opinions, and I've been flustered by anyone who can say that long hair that's frizzy and shabby is attractive simply because of its length. I guess, for me, hair must be silky and smooth in order for it to be attractive. Sorry to the frizzy long haired dudes....just my humble opinion.
Actually if I had to make a choice I would much prefer the
reverse mullet...the longer the better!
I may be wrong, but Wolfeyes seems to have something similar to this style going on - and he's one of the most freakin' attractive people on this board.
I am completely straight, and I was still looking at his latest progress picture for a really long time thinking "damn!"
I used to have a reverse mullet after my 3 1/2 inch trim before I evened it out a little.

You mean like in this picture? I think it actually looks very neat, especially when its bleached-blonde. and the longer the bangs, the better. On girls, it has a dominatrix-gothic look. On guys, it has a Gackt-like punk look. Either way, its a pretty darn good hairstyle. if I ever cut my hair short, I'd either do something like that or shoot for Robert Smith hair.
