I will be attending a Ren. fair in Bristol, Wisconsin next weekend. I wonder what stlye hair would be both period and comfortable for the day's activities? My hair is curly and sits slightly on my shoulders. It is long enough to pull back in a pony tail.
I also have a full beard, though short. Any suggestions for that as well?
The great defining thing about period hair is that in the renaissance people were more concerned about outright survival than hairstyling.
For the most part, the hair and beard were just long and scruffy, with noblemen, bards and jongleurs sporting any kind of "styling". The exception is during feasts and weddings, where even the common folk would put on their best clothes (if they were that well-to-do as to actually own two sets) and braid their hair.
You and I have the same style hair, and not too different of beards (mines a goatee, though the mustache is very sparse).
I say just let it go loose, though pull it back in a tail if you do any dueling!
Have fun!
P.S. Great looking hair btw!
I think adorning your hair with something fanciful yet masculine might be cool. I've always wanted to go to a renaissance fair... you'll have to tell us how it went. Take pics too.
