Someone mentioned satin pillow cases help keep long hair from tangling at night. Sounded reasonable, so went looking. After browsing catalogs and a few web searches I stumbled on to them in a beauty supply store while waiting for my lady to pick up some of her stuff.
Damn thing was only $6.49! For a bridal satin pillowcase. Even has a zipper so the pillow doesn't slide out. Made by a company called Betty Dain Creations. Couldn't find a website for them but found some stock information that says they've been in business since 1927.
Tried it last night, worked great on my buckwheat(?) hull pillow.

Yup, five years and it's down to my "buttocks" (hope that keeps the censor machine happy). That's with a few "split end" trims too. Everyone says my hair grows fast. Front hairline has barely receeded either.
My maternal grandfather had a full head of white hair, I seem to have inherited that trait. My paternal grandfather was bald as a Q ball.
Just lucky I guess, so why not enjoy it. My beard has gone white, waiting for my hair to start turning, but guess it'll take another 5 to have it both long and white.
This reminds me of a real zinger of a put down my brother gave me. I was just beginning to grow my hair out, and my family was sitting around the dinner table talking about how it was always in my face. My big brother asked me how long I had been growing it (the setup). I said, "About 5 months."
He said, "Wow, 5 months and it's already down to your ass!" Then he punched me in the arm and said, "Get a haircut AssFace!"
Ah, memories of the good old nuclear family dinner table.

I agree -- satin pillow cases work great! My wife turned me onto them, which she uses, as does our daughter. Now I need to bring them along with me when I travel -- I'm spoiled! But they really do make a big difference.
