Thanks for introducing me to Extol the other day, I love their music, but since then I've been introduced to an even heavier metal band. Remember I said that the song Ember was the heaviest I've ever heared? Well I've been introduced to a band called Agoraphobic Nosebleed, and I doubt there's anything heavier than those. They are insane!! I recommend you give them a listen, the album Frozen corpse stuffed with Dope. I think the band comes under Gridcore. Check them out. Maybe you've heared of them before?
Warning to everyone else, if you are easily offended, don't check them out. I'm not keen on their lyrics, but their music is of a sort I've never heared before and rather enjoy.
I first heard them through a friend a few years ago, and wasn't overly impressed. The drum machine gets pretty boring quite quickly, and the songs that I've heard are generally just noise. Regurgitate and Pig Destroyer are much better grindcore bands IMO, both of whom can be found on the Relapse label like AgNo. If you wanna find more bands, go to a site like that of Regurgitate(.net) and under the 'links' section there's a ton of bands and labels. I'm sure you'd find something you'd like.
If you want heavy, but in a brutal, gritty way, I'd highly recommend Anaal Nathrackh. They're a British duo with some chunky riffs and catchy rhythms. I don't know if they'd be classed as grindcore, but they're heavy as hell. I've also been listening to Nasum alot recently. Again, not really similar to AgNo, but still a good grind band with very listenable songs.
Have you heard any of Decapitated's material, Surferdude? (Waaaay different, but I wanted to take this chance to plug Decapitated lol).
Matt
Hi Matt, yea I hapen to be a surferdude who likes thrash metal lol!:) (That sounds so silly)
Nope, I haen't heared of Decapitated Vogg? Thanks for the recommendations. The first time I heared a few songs by AN, I was TOTALLY blown away by it! The speed was just so awesome! The drum machine is the best thing about it, as well as the furious lyrics. I can assure you I haven't got bored of it yet :P
I'm into thrash metal, and I don't mind heavy death metal as long as it's quite fast, the faster the better! At 2000bpm on the drum machine, I think there's nothing faster, so I guess I've come to the end of the line!
If you want to listen to some really cool music go to http://www.tanzwut.com They are a band that speaks in German and have bagpipes in their songs, but they are so different from traiditonal American rock.
Tanzwut is really good. My fave is 'fur immer' just that the pipes are a little not loud enough but good rythm. Too bad I don't play pipes or speak german. Anyone like Rammstein? So far thats the only ones I have heard of and liked more than one song.
Rammstein is what got me into Tanzwut
If you like heavy and fast then keep your eye on a soon to be released CD by ULTRATHRASH.
(wink)
I've heard of them before, but never checked them out.
Downloaded a few songs from their website, and it sounds alright, but it's not really my thing.
This warning didn't apply to me? :)
I definately don't like their lyrics, and those alone are enough to make me not want to listen to them.
Ah sorry! They are a little 'extreme' I've got to agree, and doesn't appeal to many. This is probably the most extreme band out there I'm almost certain.
I thought you were into this stuff so I didn't think you'd mind really.
Yea I agree, the lyrics are bad, and very distasteful, but that's what you've got to expect from such an extreme band.
Don't let the lyrics put you off though, I couldn't understand them until I read the lyrics pages!
I've nothing against extreme metal in and of itself, I'm just more into regular death and the atmospheric black. And very much technical/progressive as well.
For a taste of some black, go to to http://www.endtimeproductions.com/ and choose samples from the menu.
I just spent some time in London with members of both bands featured on the player :)
I try to limit myself to stuff that isn't distasteful (in my opinion) and isn't blasphemic.
You can be extreme without being gross, I'd say.
Anyway, it's just a personal choice, not to listen to that kind of stuff.
Also, you develop a knack of comprehending the vocals as you listen to the style more (well, I have anyway)
Cool, I'm listening to them right now and they sound excellent!
Lmao, yea I guess that will come, unless the person is too high on drugs so he doesn't actually know himself what he's saying, then we encounter problems:)
Cool, glad you like it.
On that subject, I'm not sure why but the first three CD's with Living Sacrifice has pretty much incohesive vocals. I'm not sure he's actually saying anything, other than just sounds.
Compared with some bands out there, AgNo are just a gimmicky 'wacky' group. Porn-grind is abit worse than AgNo, since their main obsession is, well, I won't mention what sort of stuff. Then there are bands that are just purely sick and design their homepages based on pictures of dead children. However, those bands tend to be nothing more than noise, and it's very hard to distinguish any sort of music amongst the mess.
Matt.
BTW, you may like the band Vomitorial Corpulence as well:

Thanks for the link. Hmm, I'm not too keen on this band, my speakers can't take it and all I get mostly is fuzz :(
Glad thy're a Christian GRINDCORE metal band! Whoaa, I never thought Christian metal could sound like this!:)
