I have been growing my hair from a shortish stye for the past 8 months and I am trying to grow the hair from the crown and sides to one length. I put my hair at the back into a pony tail for work and the sides are now sufficiently long that this looks a bit out of place unless they are tied back as well. However, the problem is that not all the hair is long enough to reach the pony tail so I end up with hair that I put back just behind the ear. This hair keeps slipping out from behind my hair and springs out sideways making my hair look a mess.
Are there any tips for keeping this hair in place until it is all long enough to tie back.
Two words: Hair spray.
;)
Use bobby pins or barettes
David is right - the best solution is to use clips/grips or pins (thats what there for). You could probably get a colour that is close to your own hair colour so they will be very discreet. Also try some hair gel just to slick it back.
What is a barette?
A barette is a two piece, hinged device that you put in your hair typically to keep it from dangling somewhere. It usually has a latching mechanism on one end, for example, a pair of projections that, when squeezed, release the back portion from the front, decorated piece. What you do is you take the open barrette and grab some hair with it, then close it, using the latch.
This description seems inadequate. I looked for a picture, and I have a few, but none that clarifies what one is.
Think of it as those hair clips that are usually used near the temples to keep hair out of the eyes, or at the back of the head to keep hair in a flat pony tail.
Mark,
This is what Victor is trying to describe. You can get plain looking barrettes as well as fancy hair jewelry pieces.
