Hey guy
got a huge problem i wanna join the fca the irish reserve defence forces but the problem is i'll have to get my hair cut what are your ideas
I see your dilemma!
The way I see it you only really have two choices, so you'll have to find out what is most important to you. Your hair, or the fca.
Of course, you could investigate if there were any loopholes to avoid getting it cut.
Well, you have 3 basic options:
1)Get a haircut
2)Don't join
3)Buy a wig
Then there's secret option 4 - Get a haircut, join the army, work your way to the top... change the rules, grow your hair back.
To be honest, it doesn't seem like you have any options if you're serious on being in the army. I can understand the desire, but personally I wouldn't do anything that required me to do something other than what's in my heart.
Just some food for thought.
Hope you get it worked out.

If your desire to defend your country and serve in Uniform is greater than your desire to grow your hair. I would cut my hair to get the honor of defending my country, me personally. Once you get out of the army you can regrow your hair. Ohh my dad was in the army don't try to hide long hair under a wig, that is looked on as undiciplined, always be honest with your superiors, the last thing you want to do is give your officers and higher enlisted men a reason to not like you, prevent your advancement in the army, you won't believe the number of things people will do to screw you when they hate you with a passion, At least in the US Army. My dad almost got an Archol 15 because someone didn't like him, someone planted dope in his room, but they cleared my dad and found out who did it. Best thing to do if you are going to join is keep your head clean, and don't join up with the wrong crowd.
I spent 12 years in the US Air Force and was proud of the uniform I wore. The short haircut was a part of that uniform. The decision to serve your country certainly is a greater good out-weighing a stand for long hair. The best of luck to you !!
Being in the Army (even Reserve Forces) & having Long Hair are mutually exclusive, you can't have both. What you do will depend on your reasons for wanting to join-up and your reasons for having long hair. Whichever is more pressing will define your decision.
Personally I've found that having long hair makes me happy. Given that I dont want to do something that will jeapodize my happiness, I would never join the Army. That and the fact that I think I'd do a better job serving my country by criticising the crap policies the government doles out, than by signing up to the will of the politicians running the place.
Nuff said!
