I need to get one. Then I can post a pic anytime. I have not had an opportunity to scan any of the pictures I wanted to post.
Once I have a digital camera, how do I hook it to the back of the computer? After that, I can put the pics on a floppy, bring them to college, and post away.
Usually you'll connect with a USB cable.
You can also get a card-reader, so you don't need to connect the entire camera, but just the memorycard.
oops. Getting ahead of myself there. It depends how big the pic is. I dont like floppies anymore. I use SD cards--much smaller, hold a lot more and they access faster too. The computer should automaticly install the software if it a usb kind when u plug it in. Or use the card reader if your computer comes with it. What brand is it?
Aye, you should get a USB cable, as mesmerised says... there'll be directions in the manual, as you may need to install some software from CD (also included with the camera btw).
When you're getting a camera, best to mention to the guy (or girl) in the shop that you want one that's simple enough to hook up, just in case you get something more difficult than you bargained on.

DigiCams are great and you can pick up a basic camera for under $100, Though be sure it will be basic. Decent ones cost from $250, but virtually all of them will connect via a USB cable running from the camera normally to the back of your computer, like Wolfeyes says there are instructions with the camera so you can hardly go wrong. The trickiest part is working the point and click action and setting the flash on the Camera, NOT connecting it to the PC.
Ivix know your Internet Access is limited to what you can get at College, so this recommendation isn't really for you, but just incase anyone else out there is considering getting a Digital Camera then you should know that for as little as $40 you can get a web cam which will capture still photos, these again are a doddle to set-up.
I recently brought a Logitech QuickCam which cost me 83.00 Euros (about $90) it was the best in the shop, but it takes 640x 480 stills at similiar quality to a similiarly priced digicam PLUS it lets you have video hook ups with your mates too!
My point is they are better value than cheap DigiCams. So if you don't have the cash for a good Digital Camera then a good Web Cam is a better option than a cheap DigiCam.

What about the little battery door that seems to be made to self destruct when you need the camera most. I used to have a cheapey camera that could not be turned off because it would lose all pictures and guess what? The little latch broke spilling the batteries all over the place. I think this would also be a point of quality to consider.
