My ISP has decided to implement some great new technology in partnership with Southwestern Bell Telephone. As a consequence, I am finding it very difficult to do anything consistent on line. Things tend to expire quickly.
This technology was touted to us something like this: Now, when you dial in, the modem will transfer to your local area. I can't help picturing squirrels running around town on the phone lines with little modems on their backs.
Anyway, what seems to be happening is that the squirrels get hungry and drop the modem for a nut, thereby leaving me hanging. The hung computer remains until I abort whatever program is hanging.
Suffice it to say, this is preventing an update to The Men's Long Hair Site as well as preventing me from effectively maintaining this board. I hope the problems get resolved soon. Also, I hope the squirrel doesn't get hungry before I press the POST MESSAGE button.
