Ive seen a lot of guys around here talking about how great jojoba oil is, but what exactly does it do? Are you supposed to put it in your hair to keep it looking wet for long periods or something? How much should you use? By the way have you read the thing about it being able to fuel cars??
It puts beneficial oils back into hair after you remove your natural oils by shampooing.
No.
A drop or two on the hands, rub through the hair every day or so.
No.
Jojoba oil is very concentrated, so a little goes a long way. It smoothes hair, minimizing tangles and frizz. I have curly hair, and after shampooing I rub a few drops between my palms and spread it through my hair, then I let it air dry. On days when I go curly, frizz and tangles are minimal. On days I flat-iron, I spread a few drops through my hair after flat-ironing and my hair is smooth, far less frizzy and, again, nearly tangle-free.
Jojoba oil is also supposedly very similar to the oil our skin produces, so it's good for skincare as well. It can be beneficial for people with oily skin, as it's readily absorbed by the skin (without blocking pores) and therefore makes your body think it doesn't need to produce as much oil. On the flip-side, it's also good for dehydrated skin and prevents wrinkles caused by such.
As for cars...I've not heard that one. It's not cheap to buy, so filling up a tank would be incredibly costly. I have heard of vegetable oils powering converted diesel engines.
I buy my jojoba oil from The Vitamin Shoppe (www.vitaminshoppe.com).
Cheers,
Jeremy
