A number of years ago I let my hair grow out to a little over chin length. But I also had it styled so that only the top of my hair was long (meaning the underneath was shaved but you could not see).
Now I am wanting to grow it out again but in different manner.
The problem is that I notice some parts are shorter than others, and Im not sure how much of the back to let grow out (meaning top back and lower back.) It seems like the top should grow longer but im not sure how long to grow the lower back part.
Im also not sure when I should trim the parts that need to be shorter. If I wait for months and let it all grow out im afraid it would be difficult to cut the parts where they need to be to
get the look.
I am going to post the address of some of the pictures of this hairstyle below with dry hair and with wet.
Like I said the big part I cannot tell is what part of the back of the hair to let grow out and how much. And I cant tell if it is shaved in the back at any part or not. Could someone help me on how they think this hair is grown? Espeacially in the top and back? Anyhow here are the links to the hairstyle. Thanks!
PS. Yes it is hair in a movie but its not the star Im trying to look like its the hair, and ive seen it on many people but go ahead and give me a hard time about it if u want hehe.

How long is your hair now? Just stop cutting it. Cutting hair doesn't make it easier to grow out. When your hair is longer than the photo, take the photo in to a salon and tell them you want this style.
I agree, grow your hair for a while and then take the photo to a Salon, the style doesn't look complicated, I doubt a stylist would have a problem with it.
Just grow a bit of length 4-5 inches, from the look of the photo, it should be roughtly the same length all over, just blended shorter to about 1-2 inches at the neck.
You need slightly wavy hair for this to work best.

Should I keep the neck cut so it does not grow past the very end part of my necline as it is now? (very short regular cut).
It just seems from the pic that his long hair ends at the necline but im not sure how long to let mine grow at the necline and a bit above it or if i should even let that part grow out at all for that look.
Can someone help me with this? Its really frustrating me.
Thanks!
PS.
I really dont want my hair to look like the hair on the back of my neck is long while im in the process of growing it out but I need to know if this is what I must do. If I need to I will but it just doesnt look like thats how its grown out. Then again Im not a pro. Thanks again.
