Can anyone help me out with this? Whenever I wake up my hair is all tangles and pushed randomly in all directions. I cant even try to comb or brush it, it just cant get through the tangles. The times when I do brush, it gets all puffy and wont stay down. Whats been working for me is just taking my head every morning and dunking it in a sink filled with water. Are there any other things I could try?
You can always shave your head! Viola! Problem solved!
Hehehehehe! Just kidding!
Try brushing/ combing from the ends, one section at a time, and work your way up to the scalp. Don't start at the top of your hair, start at the bottom. You may want to use your fingers first, then a comb. By starting at the bottom, you can avoid most tangles.
In addition, try using a detangler before you go to bed and as soon as you get up.
Yea, there are a few things you can try!
Finger comb your hair in the morning CAREFULLY, to get the tangles straight, then comb it lightly using a brush with plastic bristles and little ball things on the end of each bristle. Stick a cap (a warm wooly hat/cap) over your head and let the heat build up inside (try drink hot liquids) after an hour, take the cap off, comb it again, then stick the cap back on, keep doing this until your hair is flat. With a bit of luck, it should stay flat and problem free for most of the day, that'll stop the puffiness.
Try using leave in conditioner, the extra weight would make your hair less likely to flip or curl. That'll stop the puffiness.
...and I'd really appreciate a comment on my progress pics? G on!:)
Products containing silicones (like L'Oreal MELTing gel)
are--believe it or not--great DE-tanglers.
When you go to bed, try to restrain your hair with
something.
Depending on your hair's length, you can use pins (for shorter hair) or one or more hair ties (for much longer hair).
Good Luck!
Yea i know Im working on getting a digital camera so I can post some. Ive got some picture of me that my friends took when I didnt know. They are really weird, like my eyes closed and mouth open and one of me sitting near a trash can. Ill post em sometime if you want.
Hello,
I'm new here (not even frequent enough to be considered a lurker, and I'm female to boot!), but may I ask how you brush?
It's easier to detangle from the bottom up, generally, so if you're starting at the scalp and brushing down, it's probably going to be a lot more difficult than it has to be.
Try detangling starting at the bottom and working your way up in segments. Yes, this takes a little time, and the longer your hair grows, the longer detangling becomes.
Also, detangle before going to bed.
I don't use brushes at all, but use only combs. Perhaps try a wide-toothed comb with "double dipped" tines (rounded with extra plastic). Also, if you're using plastic combs, check them before you use them and sand off the molding burrs that sometimes are along the molding seams. These will damage your hair by roughing up the cuticle, which causes tangles because the hair strands catch on each other a lot more.
In the morning, if wetting your hair seems to help, try detangling first, then using a spritzer bottle to mist water onto your hair, rather than dunking entirely. I would stay away from silicone-laden products, which usually cause build-up, meaning moisture ultimately is prevented from entering thru the cuticle, so you have to use a clarifying shampoo every week or two to remove the build-up. Better to stay away from silicones and clarifying all together.
Try oiling your hair length after detangling, and then comb thru again. Start with only one drop of oil spread over clean palms, then spread thru your hair in downward motion. You can add more if your hair is longer (I don't know this detail).
If your hair already has damage due to rougher handling or previous coloring (if this is the case, trying to make this post applicable to others, too), it can take some time for this to grow out, so a big difference might not be noticeable overnight.
Good luck!
