Hi, iam Donal. and iam 17 years old.
I've been trying to grow my hair out since 5 months.
But right now iam thinking of cutting it short again.
Well, here's the reason.
I feel like iam losing more hair than i think is healthy.
How much hair loss a day is considered normal? and when is it a thing to worry about?
if someone could please tell me, i keep getting worried everytime i see myself in the mirror. Iam starting to get depressed about this.
Btw, last time i got my hair cut it was thinned and short, if that makes it any difference when growing it long.
I heard hair gets stronger and thicker when you cut it short and let it grow it long again, is this true??
please help me out, so i can pick up my life up again.
a sad man....
Personally, I think you're probably fine. Is it possible that you're not losing any more hair than before, but now that it's long, you see the shed hair easier? (Hope that makes sense...)
I know that if a friend with short hair loses 50 hairs a day, and I lose 50 hairs a day, mine seems like a LOT more, but that's just because each strand is longer.
It's common to lose easily over a 100 strands a day. Nothing to really worry about, though if you have any doughts you could always take it up with your doctor or hair stylist. But at 17, I think its pretty unlikely your going bald or anything. Good luck!
This is an urban myth I'm not going to waste time to debunk. This is another one of those old wives tales.
Quick answer:
Don't worry, don't cut.
Detailed answer:
Each hair that you lose is longer, but you are probably not losing more hairs,
It varies a lot between one person and another. At your age, it is unlikely to be a problem unless you are sick or not getting a good diet.
Shouldn't make a difference.
It's a myth. Cutting hair only makes it shorter.Growing it angh looking after it makes it long and healthy, and there is plenty of good advice on this board and also at others (mostly for women, but the hair advice is the same!) eg http://forums/longhair community.com
As I said, don't panic, and don't let misguided people talk yu into cutting when it isn't necessary.
Thanks alot everyone, i knew posting a message here would help me.
Your replies made a lot sense to me.
My worried thoughs have vanished, same for the idea to cut my hair.
thanks again!
If you are losing hair be it at a normal or abnormal rate, it doesn't matter if its long or short, its still going to happen.
If your life is on the floor because you are losing some hair then there are probably more issues involved.
Of course i know hair loss is a natural thing to happen. I just had no idea how much hair loss was normal.
So don't think there are any other issues involved, i wasn't feeling well of it. You know, people can get insecure about all kind of stuff. though you may think it's a stupid thing to be worried about hair. Well, perhaps you where right at some point, But it did worry me. :S
thanks for your interests anyway.
I've had long hair or been growing all the time for the last 4 years, and even now I still feel bad looking at how much is lost.
Especially if I delay some days with washing it. My hair curls, so a lot of it just stays put, instead of being dropped to the floor.
