Picture Purged
Hi all
Just posting an update of my progress. Not much to show this time around, some growth but nothing to spaz about :p
My hair is now down to my nose and just barely touching my shoulders (when I hold my head right eheh) and getting a bit shaggy.
This experience is a bit different than the last time I had shoulder length. I have been checking for split ends and so far I don't "Think" I have found any, but my hair is starting to feel a bit rough, though It may just be my mind playing tricks with me. Before I restarted the growth process, my hair was severely bleach damaged so I honestly have no real comparison to use when it comes to what TRUELY healthy hair feels like. Any ideas out there?
I know some of you may say, "if you don't SEE any split ends, then you don't have any" but my eye sight isn't all that great (actually it's pretty bad) so I know I probably have a few that I can't see. I've been researching the "Split-ender" but everything I've seen so far is pretty disheartening and I'm not willing to take that kind of leap of faith with my hair!
I don't know. Maybe I'm just being too paranoid. I have been taking EXTENSIVE care of my hair this time around because I want the healthiest hair I can have. Bioten, a one-a-day vitamen, excersise, a somewhat decent diet (much better than before) reduced shampooing with every other day conditioning, once a week deep conditioning and infusium leave in conditioner everyday, nothing but a boar bristle brush, air drying... yada yada, add nausium.
I guess the biggest worry I have is the temperature of the water I use when I shower. I have to use very hot water to relax my muscles due to hypertension and I'm afraid it may be not so good for my hair, even though I do a finishing cleansing rinse with cold water.
Anyone have some words of wisdom or encouragement for me? Or even better, tell me to STFU and stop worrying? LOL!
Peace and be well! :D
Looking Cool, keep it growing dude. Looked excellent before the chop!
You probably should stop worrying to much.
Your hair is probably over healthy now?!
Hi nice hair, how long have u been growing it? it looks the same length as mine (maybe a bit less), which wd mean about 9-10 months.
How do u get it to not stick out over your ears? Maybe its just becasue mine is so thick but it's a nightmare 4 me, and obviously not 4 u.
cheers
Hi Jude,
I've been growing since November of 03, so, 11 months today :)
My hair does tend to flip up and outward around my ears, but I keep a spritser bottle handy and just keep it damp to weigh it down for control purposes. Sometimes if I'm really lucky, the hairs will stay down when it dries ;)
I wouldn't consider it a nightmare personally. Though I have been told, when I haven't controlled it that it looks like I have wings on my head and looks like it may take off in flight at any given moment ;)
Hey Izzy
Just STFU and stop worrying...*grin*
Naw seriously your making good progress & the shaggyness is perfectly normal.
As for split ends, for my money the bangs take as much damage as anywhere else, so these are the best places to check. (The principal being that if you have splits on your bangs you could have them throughout the rest of your hair.) Just pull your bangs down in front of your eyes and look at the tips of each hair folicle. You'll know a split end when you see it because the end of a single folicle will finish in a little fork.
Just to make you really paranoid, whats more common than split ends are damaged ends. With these the things to look out for are the tips of single folicles which seem bent at a sharp angle from the rest of the folicle, this is the start of a break in the hair and if you tug the damaged end it'll probably snap off in your fingers.
Split ends and damage should be dealt with in one of two ways.
1) Left alone... let nature take its course and the split or damaged end will eventually just snap off.
2) Trimmed on a folicle by folicle (strand by strand basis)... A haircut or a product like the splitender are a little too indescriminate for cases where you just have one or two split ends.
Incidentally I didn't notice my first split or damaged end until I'd been growing for 14 months. I'd say your a long way from problems at present.
Sorted
Yea, I have been checking my bangs, but go crosseyed LOL
I gotta find someone with better vision than myself or my BF and have them check for me ;)
BTW, YOUR hair just keeps getting better and better!
Cheers!
