Hi my first post :-),
I'm 15 and started to grow my hair, I had wavy/curly hair when it started getting long (although the curl grew out :). I soon started having big hair like you said in the bad hair phaise section but I stuck with it. But I thought about it and then went to the barbers as I sat in the chair I watched my longish locks being shaven away. Afterwards I couldn't belive it I had suffered descrimination at school whilst gorwing it and when it did grow long I had it cut!! That was possibly the worst thing I have done with my hair which was to get it cut!!!!!!
I am now going to grow it back and stick with it. Any tips on fastrer hair growth because I miss it like hell lol. I've heard going in the sun quickens the grow; and getting plenty of sleep helps although I'm not to sure. Anyone??
Welcome to the fold.
There's no magical thing that will make your hair grow quicker. Just treat your body right by eating right, getting excercise, getting enough sleep, etc.
I went through the same thing as you. I cut my hair to get into a corporate job and hated that I cut it. I'm growing it back now and happy that I made the decision to do so. Good luck.
I'd also like to add, drink plenty of water. Dehydration can slow your normal growth rate down!
Phew I saw this message on the main board page... and for a few seconds I stared at it disbelieingly thinking this was Bill Choisser!
I should have known better really...
Welcome in "New Bill" but I think you'll need a new handle... one of our regular memebers posts as "Bill". Could I suggest "New Bill" as one that might stick?
Sorted
Same here, I was like oh my god!
Good luck brother
To get your hair to grow faster, don't use harmful chemicals on your head, get a gentle natural soap. Lead a balanced and healthy life, eat raw organic veggies and fruits. Do exercise (i'd suggest hatha yoga), stand on your head (or let your head hang down) for a minute or two to get more blow flowing on your scalp.
But most importantly: break your mirrors and do other things! There are plenty of things to do in this world that are better than staring at yourself at a mirror, pondering on how long it will take to grow...

I agree with what Vincent said though I would add in the diet some good red meat, not to scourge Vincent, this is no personal vendetta, but I believe the vitamins that are available only in meat can help stimulate the scalp and get it the simple powers it needs. As for exercise I've never quite seen Yoga let alone Hatha Yoga so go for that if you wish or just run around in circles untill you fall down and wake up a few days later. That's always fun!
Got to disagree with you there Marc. . .being a vegetarian, and a longhair, I (and Vincent, and I think edG too. .) kind of blow that theory out of the water.
The main things that are in meat that may be lacking in an unbalanced vegetarian diet are b-12, protein and iron.
Mix any grain with any legume (lentils, beans, etc) and you have a complete protein. Eat spinach and get all the iron you need. Tempeh, miso, and many sea vegetables are loaded with b-12.

What vitamins are those?
Kind of ;P
B12 deficiency is common in meat eaters too
more than 30-50g of proteins per day (eat a portion of meat, and you completely BLOW this limit!) makes your whole system acidic, which destroys, among other things, calcium.
i had my blood tested for iron (to see if i could give blood for hospitals) and it was perfect...
for those reasons i'll stick with my raw vegan diet :)
My hair seems to be doing just fine! :)

This is totally untrue. Government recommendations are to consume 1 gram of protein per kilogram of bodyweight. They have been consistently proven in clinical studies to be correct. If you wish to eat far less, feel free, your system may be able to tolerate that on a longterm basis. But it is not responsible to recommend that other people consume levels of protein which do not support maintenance of good health.
government recommendations are made by meat sellers, feel free to believe them.

Feel free to believe as you wish, but I have read studies and they are reliable. 30-50 grams of protein a day does not turn the body acidic. That is baseless vegan propaganda. Elderly people consuming half the protein that is generally recommended got dangerously ill in a study trying to prove the recommendations were wrong. The Japanese government is attempting to increase the protein intake of followers of the traditional Japanese diet by getting them to eat more pork. Humans have eaten meat for as long as there have been humans, and have cooked food for 750,000 years.
I prefer to eat the diet that humans evolved on. Clearly YMMV.
i said 30-50g was the right amount. Clearly the right amount doesn't turn the body acidic.
please do more "serious" research and tell me how much protein human breast milk has? and the moment we're drinking milk is the period of fastest growth => bigger amount of protein?
I'd like to see you get some real, and serious number on those things. please.
and where were they getting their protein from? that sounds like "science" to me. so many variables you can get to any conclusion you want.
Oh, so THAT is why the japanese people are buying TONS of Quebec pork, which is polluting our beautiful land by their waste. (their waste is so toxic because the meat-slaughterers don't want to allow pigs to move around and lose weight anymore - because the bigs LOVE to play in the wood rip that, mixed with their excrements, made it not so toxic and usable as compost.)
thank you meat eaters!
Oh, so YOU are the one that witnessed the last million year!!! Lucky you!
-vincent who will not say more on the subject, i just wish katherine provides the number i asked...
Tell me what data you base this number on.
You have brought up here a question unrelated to anything we have previously discussed. Why should I do your research for you? As with other animals, the human infant diet is unrelated to adult diets.
Um, from their diet.
Ok, the Japanese are responsible for what you have done to your country...
If you wish to disbelieve the fossil evidence (and it is not up to me to bring your paleontology up to date), that is your issue, not mine.
I'd just like to say that I would love to be a vegetarian again. I don't think I could stand a vegan diet, no offence intended. I was a vegetarian for just over two years from the age of 8 to 10. One day I just decided for some reason that I won't eat meat, my friend wasn't eating any meat so I just copied him. I went 2 YEARS without any meat until I broke down one day after a swimming party and bought a hamburger. Argh!
As soon as I've finished growing, I will go back to a vegetarian diet.
It's well-established that a vegetarian diet is sufficient for all of ones body's needs.
I'm 39 and have been a vegetarian for almost half my life, and a longhair for a third.

Can't I ever say anything without creating fights? Jesus have pitty! I simply believe that meat makes our flesh better in a simple way and there's no science about it, no research, just a belief. If you want to be vegitarian that's your thing, do what you wanna' do, but I just think meat is here for a reason and that's why I choose to eat it. Let's have peace people!
Thanks for the tips guys will do :-)
