Hi everyone,
I've been browsing round your site for a while now, and have been thinking about growing out my hair for ages. My only prob is that i've got to keep it kind of tidy looking for my job, so am probably going to need to get it trimmed a bit more than if I was just leaving it to grow. I'd like to have it all long enough to fit in a ponytail eventually so that I could tie it back while i'm working. Was wondering if you guys could offer any advice on what sort of styles would help me get a lot of length, but look quite tidy, and what I should be asking for at the hairdressers?
Thanks!
Hate to say this, man, but the only way to get the neatness of a ponytail is to tough it out through the messiness of the awkward stage lengths. Just gel it down and avoid scissors. This means you will likely be avoiding salons. [grin]
Sorted, maybe you can help this guy out with specific advice. I know you trimmed yourself into longer hair and near the end wished you had not been such an advocate for trimming. Still it seemed you were glad you had done it some.
Stu, you might post a photo of your hair or describe its texture and length in a future e-mail. This might affect the advice you get. More people might answer your e-mail if you give them something to go on, and nothing beats a picture.

Afraid i can't post a pic at the minute cos don't have a digital camera. But if it gives a rough idea, I've got kind of thick (but not really thick) dark straight hair which is probably only just over 2" long at the moment.
