Does anyone know of a website showing different braid styles for white boys? I've tended to grow my hair out long for most of my life. Back in 2001 I shaved it all off on TV at a Marlins game (free tickets). Then grew it out without even a trim for over two years. Got a regular haircut during the playoffs last year when the Marlins beat the Cubs. It's been nearly a year now and I'd like to try something different by getting braids; debating whether to get cornrows or loose braids. Thick or thin braids, etc. Any edvice, suggestions, sites?
Thanx.
Rob

I hope this helps,

Hey Rob Relax... Theres no Apartheid in hairstyles, you can wear any braid style that you like. Take a look at the some of the styles worn by Black guys, they are the experts as Afro hair rarely worn long unless its braided or dreded.
Sorted
They can braid extra hair in as they go, which means little or no scalp is showing (which can be really obvious if you have pale skin and fine hair). Lots of the Africans in my area do this.
Sure... its a bit pale at first.. but your scalp will soon tan-up.. I watch dozens of Tourists doing it everyday here. The Morrocan women set themselves up along the beach front and they are braiding just about everybodies hair.
We don't all live in the sunny tropics. It's fall here, the weather's starting to cool off (nights are brisk), and I'm looking for a warm, fuzzy hat that will contain my hair and keep my ears warm simultaneously.
I'm always amazed that we have so many thousands of Africans living in Maine, though I know it wasn't their first choice.
When I was in northern Spain (Santa Susanna) last month, that's all I saw too, everywhere you go, there's Moroccan women who are either braiding girls hair and cutting their bangs, or some just sit there all day in the baking sun with a photo album of girls hair waiting for their next customer. They were annoying sometimes as they would always tried to thrust the pictures in MY way!
I really miss the sun, Sorted, you're very lucky to be living in Tenerife, or is it Gran Canaria? Really!
Yeah - they drive a hard sell the Moroccans, but also the Sengalise are very similiar over here. We get a lot of African Immigrants in the Canary Islands and they typically end up working on the streets for the People Trafficers who smuggled them over here. Its a god awful existence, they make nothing on what sell, (normally fake designer watches & sunglasses), which they make nothing on cos they have to buy them at an elevated price from the Gangs who put them out there, and they wind up sharing a studio apartment with 8 other people taking it in turns to share one the 4 beds.
Its easy to tell who's come in legal and who hasn't cos they run a mile when the cops breeze through.
Tenerife... lucky... hmm we suffer from another African Problem in the Canary Islands... the Sahara Desert. If the winds blow from the South East we get engulfed in a Sandstorm which is know locally as the "Calima". Its a really hot opressive dust strom which really saps your strength... visibility can drop right down to a couple of hundred yards and you just taste dust everwhere. Its kind of a minor version of a Sirocco. We get a couple of bad ones each year and lots of minor ones but even those are god awful... But the Tourist Board don't bother to mention it on the brochures.

Try these, they may help. There more to do with how to braid though:
