Can some one tell me how to make the viking braids? From what I see you part the hair in the middle and for each side seperate it into 2 strands and cross them over.
Oh in case you didnt get what I ment by "viking braids" ...
Lol only one I could find...

What a waste.
Yes and no. Yes, you part the hair down the middle, but no, the braids are each a standard 3-strand braid made from half of the hair. Together, there are 6 total strands/locks of hair.

Those are awesome! Is that Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon by chance? I know he wore them a lot.
I assumed it was Varg Vikernes, of Burzum. He is the Nazi looking guy in the photo I posted.
As a longhair Varg bears a striking resemblence to our very own Resonance.

Yea that was varg... why did he have to kill euro...
I enjoy braiding hair (I do my long-haired friends hairstyles, both male and female, for the ren faires). Ironically, the "Viking" braids in this picture are called "English" braids. It's just two braids, one from each side of the head. It's just like you said, parting the hair in the middle, except you're braiding with three strands on each side instead of two (two strands have their potential though, like a herringbone braid).

wow that first pic of the braids is awesome. i like that style!
I wear this braid style from time-to-time. I've always called them 'Heidi Braids'. I like to have each braid start very low behind the ear.
They're called 'pigtails' where I live and are pretty much exclusively the hairstyle of choice for under-10 girls. I don't think I'd have the nerve to wear them in the street.
There is also a style which involves three braids: one either side and one at the back. I think there is a picture in the Kalevala (the Finnish national epic) - I have tried for twenty minutes to find it on the web but failed.
I have worn the 3 braids once, but wasn't confident enough to go outside with it, lol.
