I'm glad you are here, and you will find plenty of people who can answer your question about curly hair. It would be good for you to know that many of our members are gay, so using the word "gay" as a negative description of something stands a good chance of being offensive. Likely, you didn't mean it that way.
I do not have curly hair, so someone else will have to respond to that part of your post.

Just wait, let it grow for a couple of years before thinking about getting trims to shape it. The unevennes that straight-haired people complain about isn't obvious with curls.
Basically, just take good care of it and let it grow out, there's not much else you can do and there's no sense in raising your blood pressure over it.
