Ok... so last year i had very curly hair (my hair is naturally wavy to curly)... It was afro like becouse i used to towel dry it every morning (my hair is not easily controlled... if i comb it, it likes to go its own way)
Over the summer i finally hit my Highest point and am now able to tie my hair back...... So i was very excited to go back to highschool with my new hair.... Coming in, i immedietly got comments, Not negitive.. nor positive.... I would get "wow, you look diffrent dude" but im not really sure if thats negitive or postive...... Though i would also get a few positives like "it looks better then last year" or "i really like your hair like this" and lately i have bin geting the ever so popular "you look like a samuari" ... Infact.... im starting to get over whelmed with that comment.... ive bin called the ninja and samauri.... But people seem to think its cool... They dont mean it by insulting me..... Thats the strange thing... becouse when i began to grow my hair... i really did not want to look like i was japanese (though i am aboslutely fasinated by the culture)
I feel they think that way, becouse the pony tail is still pretty small and i have to put it up pretty high (so the front hairs can reach the pony)... So i suppose it gives that samauri Bun look to it....
Did anyone ever get called a samauri when they were growing there hair?

I did. Ha ha. It didn't really bother me though. Shouldn't really bother you neither, I don't think they're saying you look Japanese, they're just saying you have hair like a Samurai's. I don't have any Japanese descent either, by the way.

yeah i mean i will agree that it does look exactly like a samauri hairstyle.. So I do understand why they call me the samauri... im just suprised how many people call me it....

I get it every now and then. I think it has something to do with how I tie it sometimes.

I did. Actually, they called me Lord Toranaga. At other times, they called me Seagal. In either case, I never agreed with the connection, since I'm a really nice guy who doesn't need to project a 'tough guy' image.
Hah. Happened to me too. The last few days of school last year i wore a higher tail and ppl said that I looked like a samurai. Im not sure if they thought that was cool or not but whatever. Now I am waiting just a little more until I can tie it a little lower.
I've started wearing my hair up for high school in a half tail, and being told I looked like a ninja was definitely one of the nicer things said. One kid calls me Anime, and he is really good at drawing, so he told me he is gonna draw an Anime me. I don't look Japanese samuraish otherwise, I'm actually nearly 100% Irish. So I really don't mind it, and I also happen to find Japanese culture very interesting. I'd like to travel there someday, if the circumstances are right.
Yes.. in fact anytime, I wear a half tail... my brother calls me the last samurai... Though he actually encourages me to wear that style when we go out...
I guess you could interpret this in two ways:
1) He thinks I look cool when I wear my hair like that so he encourages me to wear it.
2) He thinks I look dumb when I wear my hair like that so he encourages me to wear it so he looks like the cooler one of the two of us...
Personally I prefer to think along the lines of 1) cos my brother is not the insecure type.
I'd take the samurai comments as a gentle rib... smile... and nod politely, they could say far worse things...
