my first time at this site. i will retire next year from the navy and would like to grow my hair long, full pony tail. i am white 40 and have no hair loss. i keep my hair cut now with a number 2 clipper. question, i figure i have avg hair growth, how long will it take for my hair to be in the middle of my back, thanks
Count the number of inches from your hair to your mid back. Take that number and double it.
That's how many months, if you don't get any trims or cuts, it will take.
This number assumes you have the average growth rate of 1/2 inch per month and that your terminal length (the maximum length your hair will grow) is not shorter than what it takes to reach mid back.
In short (no pun intended), it'll take years!
How long it will take for your hair to reach mid back depends on how fast your hair grows and how tall you are. Hair normally grows 1/2 inch per month. If you are 6 feet tall you should be able to grow your hair to the middle of your back in 2 to 3 years. You may want to start the growing out process about 4 months before you retire from the navy. I have heard that the military allows hair up to 3 inches long which means you could probably stop buzzing it 4 months before your retirement and still stay within allowable dress code limits. This would give you a big 4 month head start. Good luck. Absalom
