Hi all,
First of all ,I'm 17 years old and I didn't cut my hair for about one year and a half now .
The problem is that I think my hair are thinner then before. I mean, when I put my hair behind my ears, there seems to be less hair then before . I'm not sure how to explain it , it's like if I have less hair when I pass my hand in it...
Also , they doesn't seems to be very strong.
What could be the problem ? Is there any way I could make them thicker ? Someone told me I should go trim my hair just a little bit. I don't know if I should or not.
I have no idea what to do... One thing that is sure is that I will keep my long hair and I wont go back to short hair :P
Thx for the help.
Well, you really have answered your own question, sort of. You either have hair that is thinning, or it's just that as your hair gets longer, it is going to feel somewhat thinner. The longer it gets, the more area it exists in and yet it has not added any hairs to the pile, so, it feels thinner in that longer space.
In any regard, if you are going to keep your hair long, you will know in a couple of years if it is really thinning. In the meantime, enjoy it,and don't fret over it.

I am in the same boat. My hair is getting pretty thin on the top, and when I see hairs that fall out each day they are always really thin and pale and weak.
However I wasn't absolutely sure whether you meant that individual strands are weak, or your hair as a whole. If you are losing alot of hair and coverage seems to be thin, one explanation is male pattern baldness although I didn't really wanna bring that up and worry you. In cases of MPB, only the front and top hair is affected; the back and sides aren't, so if there is a noticeable difference in quality/amount of hair between these areas that may be a possibility. I personally find it hard to tell; with all my hair meshed together I cannot figure out where the fallen hair came from.
Individual hairs: On the brighter side, a multi-vitamin may be able to strengthen your hair. As well as this it wouldn't hurt if you had a balanced diet, drank plenty of water and kept good scalp health. If you find that instead you are simply shedding thicker hairs afterwards, MPB again is a chance.
Saying all that, you may just have fine hair which is totally normal. I think that during puberty hair is thicker due to hormonal changes, so at your age it'd seem normal for it to feel abit thinner than before.
Hope some of that helps. I had a hard time typing this, I ramble alot and am not good with setting out information. You wouldn't believe how many times I re-worded this, and it still turned out a mess!

On the same note, you mentioned at puberty, the hair is thicker, and at 17 years old, it should be a little bit thinner, I think I'm still in puberty lol because I started late (14, nearly 15 before I noticed ANY change in my body at all). Remember that picture I postefd the other day, showing my high hairline? Well, thinking about it, I've noticed more hair there now than there's ever been. It's not dense, but when I pull the strands, they fall easily to lip length. I was thinking that these strands would have been picked off easily if I had MPB. I've always had a high hairline though, my mothers father, and fathers father had it.
Sorry, I'm just trying to ease my worrying, and I'm rambling on, so bye!
