Hi People...
I'm after some suggestions for a new Shampoo & Conditioner to try, because basically my hair isn't responding to the products I'm using in quite the way it used to. This is more than a build-up problem because I've been alternating shampoos and clarifying to no real effect.
Problems with my hair:
> Its both dry and clammy at the same time...
Odd think to say I know... but it feels brittle and dry at the ends, (though its actually quite strong,) yet the length around my scalp seems to trap humidy and feel clammy. I guess also its very hot here during the summer so I sweat me and need to Wash or at least rinse(+condition) my hair daily.
> The ends haven't been cut in almost 9 months, I have one or two split ends and many more damaged ends where the hair folicle has broken but is still hangin on. The break is normally about 0.5cm from the tip but the damaged part has not broken clean off.
> If my hair gets damp or if its exposed to excess humidy then it tends to go kinky and wavy, something I'd rather it didn't, I like it straighter... But I can't help the summer weather.
Basically So I'm looking for new product suggestions, Something that:
> Cleans well but isn't over harsh...
(no ammonium layrl sulphate please...)
> Detangles extremely well.
> Provides some protection from humidity and moisture without covering my hair in CONES so I wind up back at square one.
> I can buy on the Internet from an EU country, cos I'll never find it in the shops/salons here and if I try and ship from the US I'll be lumbered with Import duties plus it'll take 4 times as long to get here. Please supply URL's where needed/
I've been looking at Paul Mitchell Products but I'm undecided... Suggestions? Price is not really an issue, I don't mind paying £10.00 for a bottle of shampoo that does the job.
(Apologies for the long post)
Thanks
Sorted.
Mop C System hydrating shampoo and daily conditioner, it has humactants to protect against humidity and is sulphate free.
Wow Thanks Ste.. these MOP products looks really interesting... Slighty on the pricy side but sounds like just the kinda think I'm looking for...
Once again thanks for you highly informed advice...
Other suggestions still welcomed.

Is there a reason why you suggested the C-System line over the other MOP shampoos & conditioners... Its the only one that claims to be Sulphate Free is that the difference?
The only other difference I notice is the price tags.
Also whats your experience with Sulphate Free Shampoos? Do they lather as well? I'm not over concerned with Price... but I don't really want to go through 2 bottles of shampoo & conditioner a month rather than 1 just because I can't get the damn thing to lather. Not at £9 a bottle.
Thanks
It does foam slightly, it still has surfactants but mild ones. I find I only need a small amount, and run it through very wet hair backwards (I wash my hair over our bath cos I dont like poo/cond to run over me when rinsing) so from the front to the back, which helps to detangle too. I've not tried that many sulphate free shampoo's as they are generally hard to find, but I do like this one because it is mild and I find it very hyrdating without the false hydrated feel you get from silicones. It should last you the same or maybe even longer than your reg shampoo as you dont need that much. The conditioner is the same really but different hairs may prefere to use a different brand conditioner. However if you choose to use one with cones etc then the mop shampoo may be insufficient in removing them, so thats why I use the mop conditioner as it is very light and compliments the shampoo. Hope that helps.
Cheers Ste... I've decided to follow your advice, I've gone for the MOP C system, but I figured seen as I'm placing an order, I'd try one of their other MOP lines as well, the daily rinse conditioner as I need to use something to detangle virtually everytime I wet my hair... I'll see which lot works best for me, but for now I'm saying no to heavy cones shampoos.
Thanks

Good to hear, you only really need cones if your hair is coarse, and you hair is only really coarse if its been dried out by harsh shampoo's so its a vicious circle to get into. Of couse some hairs like african are natually coarse so they benefit from them, but people with straight-ish hair dont really need them I dont think. I hope you like it, i've recommended it alot here so i'd feel guilty if you didnt!! : )
Just make sure you get he hydrating shampoo not the clean one!
I think my hair is pretty course too, but I'm still going for the Mop C system. There you go, you've now had 2 customers:)I'm expecting big things from the shampoo:)

Arrgh! im scared ive hyped it too much now! dont hate me if its no good for you! ; )
Try Treseme shampoo and conditioner. If you can get the kind from the internet. Get the kind for dry or damaged hair that is supposed to resotre moisture, resiliency, and all that. It has been working wonders for me. Shampoo is black bottle and conditioner is white bottle. Give it a shot if you can find it.
Sorted, 10 pounds for a bottle of shampoo? Okay.

Its funny I've been thinking about Tresseme as its been advertised on UK TV recently as its now been sold in Supermarkets..."Without the Salon Price Tag." Or so says the pitch...
But to be honest I've been buying Redken Shampoos & Conditioners and these retail at around £8-£9 per bottle, which is on the high end, but by no means the most expensive Salon brand stuff you can buy. Besides... I'm investing 2 years of my life in my hair... I'm not about to throw that away by washing with Pantene or Head and Shoulders!
Thanks for the suggestion Ivix.

Why would you throw away 2 years maintaining your hair. Unless your exposed to radiation, or bad genes your hair will always be there
Let me explain...
What happens when you wash your favorite shirt Again and Again and Again? It fades right?
You can use different detergents which will protect certain fabrics better than others right? So you can wash your clothes with equal frequency but less damage?
Use the wrong type of detergent or stain remover on the wrong fabric and you'll ruin your shirt.
Hair is exactly the same... use the wrong product on the wrong type of hair and you'll get bad hair... use cheap products which contain harsh chemicals and you'll get bad hair...
You hair has to last you atleast 2-3 years if you want long hair, cos thats how long the new hair takes to grow to replace the hair that naturally drops out or breaks due to damage. It has to last you 5-6 years if you want to reach terminal length... you only have one head of hair....
Equally if you only had one shirt to wear for the next 5 years, you'd want to take damn good care of it wouldn't you?

TreSemme personally made my hair feel incredibly greasy and gunked up. It was about as heavy as it's ever felt. So I can't go along with the rec for this one, but again, everyone is different.
I've been using Garnier SLEEK and SHINE for a week and haven't had to use any conditioner. I'm impressed so far with it's anti-friz ability for such a short period of time.
Not sure if you tried Pantene Sleek and Smooth. Ive seen it on many top ten lists around the internet. I tried it once at my girlfriends house and for me, it kills Aussie 3 minute Miracle and Aussie Mega conditioner combined. Sleek and Smooth isnt for everyone though, its been know to "overcondition" hair that is not overly dry. Proceed with caution.
I am still have great results wiht the Aussie moist conditionar im not crazy about the aussie shampoo right now but the conditionar got rid of all the super dry parts in my hair so I stick with it.
Hi Sorted:
I've had lots of luck with the Jason Naturals Damage Control Creme Shampoo and Creme Conditioner. The shampoo is low-lather and doesn't contain Laryl/Laureth Sulfates. The Conditioner does a wonderful job at detangling. I use a flat iron and jojoba oil to straighten and battle humidity, so I can't tell you how this shampoo and conditioner will fight humidity by themselves.
The Jason website (http://www.jason-natural.com) has an e-mail link to a UK distributor: info@kinetic4health.co.uk. You can e-mail them to find out about mail order or to find out where you can buy the products near you.
Cheers,
