I have not has my hair cut since last November. It started out as a caesar cut, you know where it is short, about a 2' shave on the sides, faded up and the worn with a flip in the front. Anyhow I grew it out from that stage, and in the back by my neck the hair is flipping up. I want my hair to look like Kurt Cobain, the late lead singer of Nirvana but since it is flipping up in the back does it mean i will never be able to have my hair like that? Will it eventually become straight as time progresses? When I dont wash it it lays flat. Is there anything I can use or will I never be able to have hair like that? Thanks so much for your help!!!!
Evidently a lot of people want to look like old Curt. Let it grow for approximately a year and a half. After that, get any neccessary trims to shape it into the Curt look and let it grow from there. I know that that seems like a long time to grow, but have fun watching the changes in the mirror.

Hey Ivix your hair looks about Kurt Cobains length. Did he have his cut differently or something? Your hair looks clean and his looks pretty dirty, like he probably never washed it or combed it. Is that the difference between his hair and your hair?
He looks like he never washes his hair because that's his look.
I have just passed the Kurt Cobain length by about an inch or so, but it still looks the same. It took me roughly 14 months to achieve this length (it's hard to tell because a) I don't remember for sure when my last shave-cut was and b)when I had a trim in September 2003, I don't know how short it was). So, I'd recommend you wait until the New Year, letting your hair grow some more thus allowing it to weigh itself down and move past the 'curled up' stage.
Of course your rate of growth may be different but still, in time those curls will pass. When you have the length, style it as you please. Good luck with it. I started out aiming for the Kurt look, but now I've reached it my new target is his 1988/89 length (he looks so awesome with hair that long).

Thanks so much for your help. No doubt Kurt Cobain was the epitome of a rock god and he definately looked the part. I just cant wait until my hair settles down. Since the rest of my hair is very straight does is the curling just a natural process? Doesnt mean my hair wont be curly when it is long right? Because I definately do not want that.
Yes, it's just a natural stage. Everyone goes through it. I remember when my hair was like that, for months it would stick out sideways. I looked like a girl when it was washed and fluffy, lol.
